Are they good, bad or indifferent.
:?
I wanna pick up the deal I have on the 17' Rotas but they have a 45 or 48mm offset, which requires wheel spacers to clear the calipers.
Some people say spacers are fine and others don't recommend them.
I do know that you won't get as many threads when bolting down your wheels.
Please help :!:

i may be getting some brent....H&R makes some wicked performance spacers...to widen stance, and in your case ultimately clear calipers where necessary...
When you get the spacers, it's recommened that you also get replacement thread shafts that are longer...h&r sells those too..
check out this page...options auto salon sells 'em for so many makes, and at different widths too...there's a range available just for the celica..the wider the more $$

Cool thanks! But is that $55 per spacer... or for a set of 4 spacers?

per spacer..they're expensive : ( USD....you can find them for cheaper...but h&R are prolly better engineered, and more sturdy...

hey sandro...have you ever priced out a x10 rim...mega bux...for a fraction of the cost u can use spacers...
in brents case he needs 'em to push out the rims a bit cuz the rims he wants to buy have an offset that might interfere with the caliper assembly...
when I get'em they're totally for aesthetic purposes..read :bling:

Brent,
Do you have aftermarket calipers or something? Cuz if not, a 48 offset is fine and will clear your stock calipers. There are tons of owners out there with 17' ROTAs with 48 offset with no clearance issues. I have 48 offset myself.
If you do have aftermarket calipers or the 4pots, then I stand corrected.

I've heard nothing but bad things about them, performance wise.
For looks, pimp em. But I'd never run autoX on those things or try doing a fast corner on them.

It's an old post before the WRX.
Wheel spacer puts lots of stress on your wheel studs, you could break them a lot easier. It's kind of dangerous when driving and have a wheel fly off.

Awsome info Pra!!
(the knowlege that doth flow from the brain of the 'rim-king')
Personaly I don't think that $55 per spacer is alot of money.. Especialy if it keeps my wheels and my investment in a $35000+ car in once peice.
Brent you will DRIVE your WRX, so to my mind the stresses that your wheels will be under is gonna be substantial. ('cpecialy given the next crop of roads I need your 'assistance' with)
I personaly would do NOTHING That would weaken your car.. If anything I'd pick up some HARD-CORE rally wheels for the sucker..

I have been driving with wheel spacers for a week now, and no problems. I only paid $12 US per set + shipping!
Question, I've noticed that I need longer lugs now to thread down farther because of the decreased room,......................where can i get these!!!!????
THANKS!

my spacers are 8mm
When the car is complete I'll post pictures of everything! So yeah....no one knows where to get these special lugs seperate eh?
the spacers are easy to find and are cheap, h&r is ripping you off. The hard part is finding good long wheel studs that you can get lots of thread engagement. I just ordered my new studs 2 days ago, got the place from the 2nd gen MR2 guys.
http://trackstore.co.uk
they are SS39 (12x1.5)
here's a picture of the stock 40mm stud next to their longest 63mm stud.
http://www.nollonline.com/Files/LongStud.jpg
I'm only getting the stud 1/2 way down the wheel nut, and want to run 8mm spacers, these studs with 8mm spacers should give me right around rull engagement in the wheel nut.

Not long ago I was posting about possible getting higher than recommended offset rims with spacers, and was...uh... stongly suggested to not do it and to just buy rims that meet the specs of the car without spacers.
I know people get anxious to hop on a good deal for hot new rims like I was, but I waited it out and got mine about 3 weeks later... and im definitely glad I did. The new ones I found looked better than the ones I was going to get originally, and the last thing I want going through my mind when i take a hard corner is "hmm...hope my wheel doesnt fall off."
Id take Prafulls advice...keep looking. the season is young, plenty of time, plenty of deals.
spacers for the WRX?
are you on the board Brent... pm me on it..Nismofob.. imma hook u up with some Rex shit

I think I might need to pick up some spacers for my tiny 14x6 rims if I get this widebody kit for my Celica.
I'm kinda weary about spacers as Brent is.

OMG!
Ok, we dont use studs, we use nuts to mount our rims!
Where can I get the proper nuts to fully engage my wheel on the threads with my spacers?????????????????????????/
Im getting worried now b/c after about 150 k i notice that my nuts get REALLY loose! I'm scared that my wheels will just fly off one day!
Any idea on where to get the appropriate studs PLEASE!

first of all when someone says something look into before you discount it.
The celica has studs that mount into the wheel hub and then a nut goes onto the stud holding on the wheel. You need to change your studs to longer ones that can handle the extra room the spacer takes up.
The 2 common studs to use on toyota's are the Tacoma rear wheel studs (approx 5mm longer) or the Trackstore 63mm wheel studs (approx 23mm longer). Here are pictures of them on my car.
http://www.vignando.com/albums/album07/StockVsTacomaVs63mmStuds2.jpg
This pictures is with a 8mm spacer behind the wheel, as you see I have the nuts fully threaded with a little left over, I'm going to see if I can fit 12 or 15mm spacers on the car next.

wow. thanks for the pics warren.
so I should have no problems at all running 5mm spacers and the tacoma studs
i'm assuming i can just go in and ask for studs from any gen tacoma? you wouldn't happen to have a part# too would you?

I don't have the part number, you need a 2001+ tacoma's REAR wheel stud. They run the same front studs as we do but a slightly longer rear stud. They retail for $9 to $10 per stud at the local Toyota dearlership here, which makes it around $200 for a new set all the way around, but they should give you a % for buying that much, also you may want to try ordering them out of the US Toyota dealer, they sell the exact same parts and I usually save 30% or more by ordering parts threw the US dealers.
