How low RPMs does your car sit at when idle?

I've got a 2000 GT AUTO... and my car chokes b4 1000 RPMS when i rev it.. it also sits kinda low according to my friend....... if i press the gas lightly, it chokes.... even if i press it harder.. it chokes b4 passing 1000 RPMs.... i've got NO engine mods......

anyone else have a prob? here is a pic of it idle......

Not rightly sure.

The Idling issue I think is ok. Mine does the same thing. I think Toyota is just being it's 'enviro-freindly' self.. (in fact my car idles soo low once it's warm that the engine heat stops circulating in the winter.. Result? You get HALF a defrosted windshield.. :) ).

The other issue though sounds more serious. When you say it "chokes" what do you mean? Does it 'stall'? Does it Hesitate?

How is your milage? Notice any changes?

PS> Come to the Poker Run today.. :D

prolly just needs a tune up dude...what's the mileage..that's a 3 yr old car by now (max i guess)........drop in some new spark plugs & have toyota check the plug wires & you should be fine...it should be that noticiable or bad...it should be smooth..

i'm sure if you came out to the meet today the guys could prolly do a plug chg and wire check in less than 30 min....easy fix..

ya my car can be funny at times .. sometime when I try to start the car it seems like its not going to start .. it turns and turns then fires up ..

I need to get some new plugs .. wanted to get new ones when I put in the nitrous anyhow

I agree with subt. My GT idles the same way, and vibrates a little. I do notice since I've removed my butterfly and installed a k&n filter, it's much smoother.

The Choke thing is strange. When was the last time you changed your oil & fuel filters. They may be a little clogged. I remember a friend of mine had a choking problem with an older car, and it was all filter related.

it's not a filter issue...i got new air filer and oil change as well and it still does it...Alan..i think i'll go in next week to toyota to ask them to check it out since i still have warranty, i'll let you know what they tell me.

the idle speed doesnt seem to bad..but with the warmer weather recently, the lag has gotten better to the point where it usually doesnt happen anymore.
