Hey guys Toytoa TRD will be at the GPT Auto Expo and they're asking our help to help fill their booth. So I'm hoping we can get a good amount of C7 representation. I'll of course be there this year. This will be sort of a replacement of darknights.

http://www.gptautoexpo.com/ is the website for the show. We have room for 30 cars. Hopefully as we do with Darknights every year we fill the spots

As done as usual TRD is being gracious enough to cover our entry so showing your car is 100% TRD covered. As well your entry gives you access to the Molson Gran Prix races!

If you're interested post it up!

if it is like last years, u wud take ur car to the show to setup on the 6th, and your car has to stay there for all 3 days (7 - 9) but u do not have to attend the show urself at all, and at the end of the show on the 9th u can leave with the car, not sure about the show hours but im guessin the show will end around like 6 or 7 on the 9th..

****I also responded at Echodrivers.com****

I could and would bring this (but would want to know the arrangements)
-because we have to leave our cars there, can we have access to them at anypoint during the weekend?
-can I take it out early on Sunday (to drive home)
-what am I getting in return?(pass to the GPT? / Cash? / TRD stuff at cost? Etc…..)
-when would it have to be there (at the latest)?

In my circumstance I’d be coming to T-Dot from Ottawa, and I guess I’d have to rent a car or take public transit if I wanted to do anything? (presume the cars have to be there Friday and only out on Sunday?) (does anyone have anything planned for the people who have to leave their cars there??

Anyone else from out of town be up for splitting a room ? (I’d have to pay for 3 nights hotel stay)

-"Vitz" hood emblem and rear badge
-OEM toyota ventvisors
-Tanabe DF 210 dropsprings
-K&N Typhoon CAI
-15" Konig Helium Bronze / AVS ES 100
-Echo/Vitz RS rear hatch wing
-Echo/Vitz RS Leather steering wheel
-Autometer A/F ratio and volt gauges(custom mounting)
-TRD rear member brace
-One Ton Garage rear spacers
-Perrin lightweight crank pulley
-Compustar alarm/autostart/ pwr locks etc….
-I.A.S.C.A level competition system (on the small side) with audio and video. (full Dolby Digital DTS etc....)

By July I might also have
-Header & exhaust
-Cusco or GTspec front lower brace
-Seats (not sure which ones)

Hi Will,

Thanks for posting. Your car looks great and will definitely qualify in entering the show. Just to remind you, tomorrow is the last day for the early bird registration fee of $45!

- Once you park your car in your designated spot on Thursday (July 6th), the car is not allowed to move at any time for the duration of the weekend. You are able to 'access' your car, as in sit in it, get things from it, etc., but can not turn on the car or move it under any circumstance.

- No, you can not take your car out early on Sunday. As stated before, the car must stay in their spot until the show is over, and then you will receive instructions on when to leave afterwards.

- You will receive two 3-day passes with your registration as well as a bunch of free schwag.

- The latest you can roll in on the Thursday is approximately 9pm. Cars are able to roll in beginning in the afternoon.

Okay so just to clarify:

-pay $45
-get 2 3 day passes GPT
-my car is shown in an area with Toyota Canada (TRD specifically) and a bunch of other “non-stock toyotas”
-some free schwag
-in no later than Thursday at 9pm (a tight squeeze for me cause I leave work at 530ish)
-out no sooner than sometime around dinner on Sunday?

-have to decide by tomorrow (cause I’m late in finding out about this opportunity)

I’ll let you know

So guys as some of you have heard there was some Drama over TRD and this show and here is whats going on.

The main sponsor for the show is Ford (paying 7 figure sponsorship), they got very uneasy and very upset that TRD was showing up with all of us and told the guys running the show if TRD shows up they will be basically pulling their sponsorship.

So of course the show guys told TRD to buzz off. This is obviously more of a business/money decision than anything else.

However TRD feels pretty bad that they got us all together and I've talk to the promoters for the show. They're leaving the registration open for us at $45 (the discounted rate). However since TRD feels very bad even though they can't really do anything I'm working out a deal with them which should be finalized this week where they will STILL pay most if not all our entry and even give us some stuff to give as free giveaway's for our C7performance booth (ford can't really vitto a club booth vs a vendor booth like TRD).

So I should have details very shortly. Please bare with me guys. I'm sorry for the delay but with whats above its really Ford causing this issue.

Leems
06-26-2006, 11:51 PM

So our cars aren't going to be in the TRD booth? / or they are?

Throughout all of this I haven't had someone say:

"Will,........you're car will be parked in the TRD booth"

This is a little troubling, so far its costing me 3 nights of hotel stay / a day off work(unpaid because I don't get vacation pay) and rental car to use when I'm there (presuming my car was in the TRD booth)

With your general admissions tickets, you are able to watch the races anywhere around the track all weekend, but it is only standing area.

Alright i just talked to TRD yesterday and Alex from GPT today.

TRD was willing to pay 50% of all our costs for the show and was going to give us some stuff to give away (like the zip zaps and t-shirts and racing shirts). However Alex has said this isn't even allowed so I'll talk to TRD monday. I don't think they're going to be willing to pay 50% of the costs and not even be allowed a banner.

So personally I've given up. You guys are free to sign up and you can sign up as C7performance and who knows TRD may be still willing to throw us some cash however overall i personally feel the guys running GPT are totaly unprofessional and obviously have let ford bend them over in terms of restricting any manufacturer's signs or advertising in any way. Aparently in the GPT sign up sheet part of the fine print is that Ford can walk up to your car and if they feel your supporting your manufacturer's name (so big mazada or toyota or whatever signs) they'll ask you to leave and will send your whole team home.

I know sponsors always get priority and this has been no surprise (so like in darknights you can get "extra" points for having toyo tires for example) however just cause you show up with a hankook sponsored car you won't get kicked outta the show.

I won't be going to this show.

Very unfortunate for GPT, doesn't add much variety to their audience if all they have to see is Ford cars.

I am with you guys and I will NOT attend this either.

Seems like they are pumping the tuner side of it more then the actual race which is what the gran prix is all about.. Seems like the race is just an extra and all the shows are the main attraction

Shame! seems like profesional motorsports is dead in Ontario! I guess everyone would rather watch cars standing still then some actual competetive motorsport action.

Oh well at least grassroots motorsports are still alive and well.

Well since alot of us will not be attending this and I'm sure some planned to take that weekend off why not have a meet instead? Say Saturday evening at KK? Just a thought what do you guys think?

Hey Brandon, as much as this sucks and has become a high school drama, I still registered using C7. Who do I contact or how do I get the rebate on my registration. My TRD edition will be showing its badges proudly. I've never been to the Molson Indy and am looking forward to the festivities.
Thanks for all your hard work. This just adds to the long list of why I would never buy a FORD.

Got to agree with the BS.

If you are about the tuner lifestyle then you are . Business is business but you have to know how and where to stand your damn ground.

Props to you "Brandon" for time and effort .
I really wanted to go to the show and was planning on taking my crew of guys to come down with me . After this i am taking the BOYCOTT route .
Just like speedorama is being blacklisted by the tuner community for there underhanded business techniques this show is now on the same list.
I am done with them as well !

Hey Brandon I just wanted to say thanks for all your hard work and effort in to doing this, I think it is crappy that Ford is being real idiots. Anyway thanks again, just to let you know they gave me a call on Tuesday the 4th and told me that they had a few spots open for cars with C7 Performance and they asked me to come in so I have entered my car. Thanks again, and I wish that everying would have worked out with Nelson from TRD and Ford it would have been better.
