So Bracebrige is far and the bugs were out in force. As soon as i got there the lot where we changed our tires was all sand and grass. That complicated things a little. It was overcast and the mosquitos and black flies were swarming everyone so we were all praying for rain.

In all 40 or so competitors made it out to the event. After i found out that due to the sand and such the R compund tires would be shot because as soon as you got off the track the tires would pick up so much sand that they would not perform after.
Oh well...

Matt and Todd came out to the event which is always great to see.

The track was actually a Go carting track which was fairly narrow with tight turns and elevation changes. Coruse was in the high 40's to mid 50 seconds range. Choice of lines was very critical on this course.

It started with a straight which tunred into a right sweeper going downhill tightening into a hairpin. Immedietly after that there was another Left hairpin turn which opened into a very short straight and then went into another right hairpin turn which opened again into another short straight. At the end there was a slight right followed immedietly by a 90 degree left leading into a straight, going into another left hairpin followed by a right hairpin "u" turn which turned into a quick left, right turn ending in the stopbox.

The first run started off with a damp track. Matt went off 2nd in line and using his Rally skills he used too much speed taking his rally car off the track and over the tire barrier.

Todd was not far behind starting off slow getting a feel for the course and taking it easy over the first turn which had small christmass trees on the outside with a tire barrier. Everyone througout the day took it easy there as there was little margen for error. That was the one place that you could make up alot of time.

My First run was much like Todd's Just getting the feel for the course.

Troughout the day the course was getting dry and times improved. At about lunch time by run 4 just before my run came up the skyes opened up and pouring rain soaked the course. That ended my chances for getting a good time. Even tho it was soaking out there I had gotten a better time then on my first and second run's

We Braked for lunch and as it poured rain non stop. After Lunch the course was soaked with puddles of water all over the course. The first cars had some challenges. Which included Matt and Todd. :D

They went out with splashes of water and once again the course started to dry out. By the 5th run we were all starting to get some grip back. Run 6 was delayed with a timing system malfunction by 30 minutes. The Track dryed enough to get a good time. This was my chance....

At the end of it all Todd finnished 2nd in GS so a great Congrads to him!

Matt was strugling all day trying to get back into keeping the car from drifting. As he is so used to in Rallying. So im sure once he gets back into the Solo 2 groove he will be back in the Top.

Matt what class are you running in now? Still in FSS?

As for me. I burried my head once again ending up in 5th place. Seems like a replay from the previous years.
But no regrets. Except for the bugs the day was loads of fun!

Troughout the day a couple people also went off. A boosted subaru Legasy went off at the finnal corner over the tires and almost into the trees. And there were a few spins as well but overall everyone i think went home with a happy smile.

Here are some Photos from the event.

Well, actually, there is this little dial on the top of the camera that has presets for various situations. I used the one for sports.

I think, due to the overcast and lower light, the shutter speed was lower than usual. Typically, with that setting the wheels on the cars would look frozen and sharp. This time there is a bit of blur to them. Worked out fairly well actually.

I really like the photos where the car is sharp with a blurry background, like what you got here:

For those I try a shutter speed of 1/30 or 1/60 and play around with them. The problem I find on a sunny day is that they tend to be overexposed. I've got a lot to learn.

yea i have the same problem. With lower light situations the shutter speed is lower to allow more light in. If i set it higher the pics turn out too dark. Im gonna set the shutter speed to auto from now on and let the camera decide as i dont have enough knowlage to manualy mess around with it.

Just found a place to host my videos. Here's one of the Bracebridge Regional event. It'll give you an idea of what the track was like -

Yes, it was taken with my camera. The autofocus doesn't seem to work all that well - the focus comes and goes. Not bad for a quick video, though.
