Well this was my first solo 2 (autox) event with the Spyder (and only 3nd of the year for me). I have no idea at all what my alignment is, but it's wacked just look at how off the steering wheel is. And I didn't get a chance to set my shocks so I don't know what they were even at. It rained so I had to run on my BF Goodridge street tires and my heavy ass 18" rims (225/35/18 front, 285/30/28 rear). The car has a bogging issue that I haven't figured out yet, it's intermittent, but it was happening a lot more at the track last night. For the timed run's I ended up in 2nd fastest raw time, loosing out to a ESS class Subaru WRX STi that is well setup and been racing all year, considering the weather and everything I'm very happy with the time. When fun runs came around the track started drying and the times dropped significantly, timing said that my fastest fun run (44.0) was the quickest run of the day of anyone.

*I've posted the video is both MPG and WMV formats, the WMV is much better quality but I put it in MPG as well for those that can't play WMV files. All the files are between 9.5 mb and 11.5 mb

Run1) (Time: 51.545, Clean Run) I didn't get a chance to put the camera on for this run, would have probably been the most entertaining of the runs. I was all over the place with the back end, gave the car to much gas, but I stayed on course and actually set a decent time for my first run, especially considering I didn't walk the course and didn't know what was coming up.

Sorry no video

Run2) (Time: 49.951, 1 Cone) I was much easier on the gas this time, but the car likes to understeer and oversteer all over the place. I had to catch the back end a few times. I hit a cone near the end right before the hard right hander. Rain is just a very very low drizzel.

Run3) (Time: 50.041, Clean Run) Rain has stopped but the track is still very wet. I lowered my front tire pressure from 32psi down to 28psi and it's helped the front grip a little, but I'm still understeering or over steering most places.

Run4) (Time: 48.947, Clean Run) I find leaving the car in 3rd gear around the back end of the course helps, gives me less torque with the wet conditions and makes the back end behave a bit better. 48.947 is good enough for the 2nd fastest time of the day, the fastest time was a 46.730 put in by a very well setup ESS Subaru WRX STi, for my car being on my heavy ass 18's, heavy springs, no alingment and having engine bogging issues I'm very happy with 2nd overall. 3rd place set a 49.781, 4th was 50.832, 5th was 50.973.

Fun Run 1) (Time: 46.4, Clean Run) Track is drying, loads more grip then before, car feels good.

Fun Run 2) (Time: 46.0, Clean Run) Pushed a harder then fun run 1 because I know the track can handle more grip. Had a passenger along with me. The car was understeering in some spots.

Fun Run 3) (Time: 45.8, Clean Run) Had a passenger again, pushed the car a little harder, understeer is becoming a real problem.

Fun Run 4) (Time: 46.1, Clean Run) No passenger this time, I decide to launch the car harder off the line since I have had any wheels spin off the line yet, but I haven't really launch the car hard of the line yet. The launch doesn't work well, I get loads of wheels spin and loose time. Then I'm playing catchup on the gates at the end of the front straight. Understeer around the track is a real problem now, I need more front end grip, you can especially see how much I'm fading out on the long left hander, I'd like to take that tighter but the front just fades away.

Fun Run 5) (Time: 44.0, Clean Run) Front end felt a little better, I took the long left hander a little slower going into it and that let me line up the car better and get on the gas more. Timeing tells me the 44.0 is the fastest run of the day with next closest person being a 46.0.

Being 2 seconds faster .. that's amazing. I'm sure the video doesn't do it justice either ... on the long corner, it looks like you were taking it easy ... its hard to tell in the clip. But congrats, thats exactly what your car is made for.

On that long corner the more I stepped on the gas the more the front end just faded out on the corner. I needed a lot more front end grip for that corner. My slicks have much bigger front tires, so that should go a long way to curing the problem in the dry. For the wet I need to get some wet weather r-compounds, but it's a tough thing to justify with the dry climate here in calgary.

Look at fun run #3, you can see my passenger going in and out of the camera frame. He was holding on with both hands and bracing himself and had the seat belt on. He was flying all over the place.
