there's gotta be some kind of standard car classing system :/
i'm b mod at pitl in the same class as peter... but @ hada i'm in the same class as you, i think with comp, its the same as hada although i never made a comp event this year and hada has changed their classing system
not like i'm competitive anyway though :D

Everybody uses their own system. PITL is meant for fun, so they have a very simple classing system. Bascially separating the stock cars from modified cars, and the various drivetrains.
The HADA system is based on the Solosprint classifications, however with a twist. Suspensions modifications play a bigger role in classing than engine mods - the opposite of solosprints.
It is virtually impossible to prepare your car to the maximum for every local club series. Local events are meant to be fun and the different classing adds to the variety of events. I am much more competitive with the PITL classing than I am with the HADA classing. Oh well, what can I do?
There is a whole discussion going on in the CASC-OR message board about what the Regional series should be about. Should it be the desitination for the best drivers in the province on the best tracks? Check it out:

The Regional series is probably the set of rules you would want to use for prepping your car if you are serius about competing at a higher level. There is also discussion about whether or not the local clubs should all use the same Regional classing system. Don't expect a consensus anytiime soon ;-).

I'll have to have a look at the rule book. I think this year they changed it so that you didn't need to be series registered to compete at any event (basically you could walk-up) - this is different from last year. I do think you need to be a member of a CASC sanctioned club though. Give me a chance and I'l see what I can dig up.

I saw your question at CASC as well. In reply...
In order to participate in a Regional event you must be a member of a CASC aproved club and be signed up for the Regional Series.
Only aception is that the motorsports club that your signed up with is the one hosting the event. Then you do not need to be a sereis registered competitor.
Hope this helps.
If i recall thats a new rule for 2006

Im TAC as well. ITs a very old and big club and their rates are good. However they are not big into solo 2. Mostly they are into rally and roadracing.
Im not sure but i dont think you need to own a honda in order to be a member. I know SPDA has CASC club afiliation and they have many memebers who dont drive Subarus.

I wouldn't bother signing up until the end of this year, for a 2007 membership. I think membership is about $50. You can always wait into the new year for the Regional rules to come out. By then you'll know for sure what the rules are about being a club member. You may even be able to sign up to become a TAC member at the Solo2 open house.
TAC hasn't put on a solo 2 series in a number of years. They have organized a Regional event each year, though.
As for the other benefits, basically it gets you into a CASC sanctioned club. They also put on a fun rally series and hold social events. This year they had a tent and food area for the ALMS weekend at Mosport. Price was very good, as it included your ticket and food.
Once a member, they have early renewal benefits. The last few years if you signed up before the end of the year for next year they would send you a jacket, shirt, fleec pull-over, or something like that. The early renewal bonus almost covers your membership fees. Don't know if this is oing to continue into the future, but it's been a nice bonus the last few years.
You might also want to consider some other clubs, like Peter suggested. SPDA sometimes have good deals for club memebrs - worth checking out. A list of CASC affiliated clubs can be found here:

Hope this helps a bit.
