The season is aproaching quick so im just curious who is interested in participating in any type of Motorsport this year.

Doesnt have to be a series or even a club event. It can be anything from track days, drag racing, drift events, solo sprint or solo II and anything else.

Over the past couple of years i have noticed more and more interest each year from this club and i hope it will keep on growing.
With more intrest in orgenized motorsport events means more people are going away from the street racing scene.

I myself will defenatly be back for the HADA and PITL series. As for the Regional's ( now called the Provincial Series ) I will still have to see on my financial situation.
My car will still be running in the same classes however i will be running a stock Shock and strut. Should defenatly be an interesting year!

So who else wants to join in on the fun?

PS: dont forget to check out the CASC booth at the 2007 Toronto International Autoshow this month!

I am going to be going to the drag strip a lot once may car is running, but I doubt I'll be good enough to warrant going to any real competitions. Might try some drifting and I'd be really interested in coming out to any club events. I'm looking to make up for 5 years of building this summer with some hardcore driving.

Edit: I also need to relearn to drive manual on a high powered setup(since I've been driving my dad's auto bmw for the past 5 years.)

Well, you know I'll be back at PITL and HADA this year. At this point I have no plans to run in the Provincial series. I'm hoping to take a track school this year. I'd like to learn a bit more about track driving.

Great to hear the different areas some are going into.
Defenatly fun stuff what ever your into.

David: Great to hear you will finnaly have your car done and will put it to good use :D Defenatly keep us up to date on the events you will be running!

Colin: im sure you will be competitive. Even last year you were well up there in the times.

Todd: You planning on getting into Solo Sprints? I wanted to take the school last year too but my finances didnt allow for it and it seems like im in the same position this year. Oh well maybe next :D. But let me know how it goes when you go!

Marky: Defenatly looking forward to seeing you out there! Im sure your first experience will be an eye opening one filled with a rush that will keep you coming back.

I think Colin is going to be quite the threat this year. It should be fun!

Thanks Peter! I did do ok at some of the events. But my first couple of ones were not so hot haha.

A threat eh? Well we will see. If I can scrounge up some money for some racing tires then maybe I might be able to keep up with some people. But I think I still need a bit more seat time to keep up with you Todd. But that is my goal!

Piotrov

Brent: That sounds dangerous! lol But sounds like it might be lots of fun! Defenatly keep us posted and of course we wanna see pics once your there on the track :2thumb:

Colin: I wouldent worry about the R compounds too much yet. Get a better feel for the car with the street tires first. Once you know what the car does and you know how it behaves in and out of control then move into the R compounds.
It will help you be faster with the R compounds.

I'm not really getting the tires for better times. I just need another set of tires to race on. Even after a few events last year my brand new summer tires had some noticable wear. If I do a lot of events this year on my tires they will be shredded by the end of the season!

Heh,

If you want some tires to 'play' with, I still have Piotrov's Falken Azens mounted on steelies. The tires are reduced to SLICKS, but they should have enough grip for a few events. Plus with the lower profile they effectively drop your car.

I'm going to Guelph not unfrequently these days (yey Planet Motorsports).

Let me know if you are interested. I don't need the tires, nor the rims.

Hey Simon - Brent is now on his way to North Carolina

I would love to look into Motorsports for 2009 but in all honesty this is not my field of expert. If those who are really into this field can help me I can work to get some of these set up for next year. Would be awesome to go to some track events seeing as I didn't go to any this year

As well, would anyone be interested in going to the Solo2 events in Montreal/Ottawa for 2009? If so let me know and I can look into their schedule, which I believe they find out in April.

I'm planning on going to a lot of events next year. But as always with me I'll see how my weekends go in terms of work.

Hopefully I'll be able to maintain my usual 8 - 10 autocross events per year. Who knows - 2009 is still a long way off :D

Anyone up for a Solo2 in a couple weeks? Theres a PITL event on Oct 18th in brampton. Its the last PITL of the year. So far their courses have been very fun.

Baby Girl what kind of mystical journey is Brent on? lol

Todd I know youll probably be out on the 18th. What other series do you run? Id like to do more than six events next year myself.

Baby Girl
10-06-2008, 08:24 PM
I haven't been to a Solo2 event this year I wouldn't mind catching the one happening on Oct 18 but only as a spectator.

From what Brent told me, he said that his work had him go to North Carolina for a few years..not sure if and when he is coming back to TO

I will see if Pitrov can help get the PITL dates for next year and we can set it up for C7 to have a team next year :)

You forgot the bit about Brent driving an RX8 now.. :giggle:

As to myself? My 'motorsports commitments' are a little different then most, as I feel I'll be working on the other side of the bench for a few more events this year (there are two new performance Rallies coming to Ontario in 2009).

But I'm keeping my eyes peeled for overnight Nav Rally events. I loved the MLRC Rally last year. Can't wait to run another one. I'm hoping for a return of the Lanark Highlands overnight event. The roads out there (and in Frontenac) are amazing..

I usually run both PITL and HADA. Somehow I only made it to one HADA event - their schedule conflicted with too much wedding/honeymoon stuff this year. I also went out to the F-Body events. They had fast courses - lots of fun. Their organization got MUCH better over their 3 events. Low turnouts insured lots of runs and early finishes to the day. I'll probably try these again next year.

The F body club eh? I can see their events being lots of fun. I think next year Ill commit to the PITL series and try out events from as many other clubs as possible. Im hoping to pick up a cheep barely certifiable 323 to try rally cross next summer and Ice racing in early 2010.

Im exited for the 18th! I wonder if there will be any good shoot outs.

hehe cool stuff. Man sounds like you're gonna have a fleet of race cars lol. What happened to the protege ? I know you mentioned at the fall tour it wasn't really legal or something ?

The protege is still stock exept the intake and exhaust so I can run in the stock classes. I still think they are the most fun because of the guys who regularly come out. The only reason why it wasnt legal was because my tires were bald. I didnt want to get a ticket for it and be the guy associated the fall tour with unsafe vehicles in the eyes of the police.

I only have one car right now but my recent goals for motorsports are rally cross and ice racing. So one or two more beaters should do.

RallyX eh? Does that mean you're coming up to Bancroft next weekend?

I 'might' be running. Unfortunatly my $400 Civic hatch beater car is nice enough it's likely to turn into the daily driver.

Should be a good turn out Simon! The word is getting around that they're running a special stage in the area so I would count on seeing some fully prepped cars running.

Ride-along's are also a distinct possiblity.

subterfuge

Heh.

That is actualy the reason I DON'T run.

The guy in this vid broke some expensive suspention bits.

I'll likely run the Taco (or 'mabee' the 510 if we end up getting her) next year. But it's REALY rough.

Best event to try Rally in IMO is Galway-Cavindish. It's a single stage rally (repeated) but it's a great safe road to learn on.

That's the first one I want to do..

I didn't make it up this weekend afterall. Had some issues to attend to around home.

Oh I thought you did this stuff. I wouldnt run my protege in it but I think a 323 project would be fun. Possibly an older rwd volvo. I totaly didnt make it to the event either. Actualy forgot and played some softball lol.
