Hey thanks Peter!

Yeah, first event at what could (easily) become the new home of these types of events: Burnt River Off-Road (http://wwww.burntriveroffroad.com/). Can't say enough good things about this event. The hosts were fantastic. The venue was fantastic, and the course.. Well it was an ass load of fun too..

The slippery conditions were real 'equalizers' on the runs. It was all down to a combination of driver and tires as the course became more and more slippery with each pass.

I learned lots. Only drove clean on ONE of the runs though, the other times I ended up in the snow banks. I even took out the stop box when I over drifted the final turn. As a result Christine may well have beat me..... in my own car... :giggle:

They are tentitivly planning another event in March. So bring your winter beaters!

Oh and Brandon. Don't dis the mini-van! It was the same driver as the Omni, and he was putting in nearly identical times! As I said, it was down to driver skill, tires, and in this case WEIGHT..

Good times, good turn out too.. Lots of folks to talk to and get tips and advice (when the Ontario champion tells you that you "looked good out there", it does tend to give you a bit of a lift).

it sounds and looks like a blast! Mark, from the vid there looks to be two courses. One a Rally X and the other trough the woods. Whats that all about?

Similar to the layout of the summer RallyX events there were two courses. One a RallyX, one a 'stage course'.

In this case the 'Stage Course' consisted of a run down the laneway of Burnt River Offroad. (not bad eh!!).

Looks like fun. Do the organizers have a website with cost/schedule/etc?

How harsh is this on the car? I don't try to keep my car showroom condition, but all the suspension and body are still straight and would like to keep them that way. Is the fun relatively safe?

The event is put on by the Maple Leaf Rally Club.

This particular series really was a 'test and tune'. Sounds like the first time they've ever put on an event like this in a venue like this so they wanted to do a 'dry-run' first. Thus not a lot of info published on it (yet). Everyone is quite stoked about it though, and they are talking about another one in March.. As soon as I hear more, I'll post it.

....
As to how hard it is on the car? We'll you're not running on a smooth parkinglot, and if you screw up there is high potential to go off the road and (at best) bed yourself in a snow bank and/or at worst come in contact with a natural obstacle (rock, tree, portapottie, etc..).

If you know your car and drive within your abilities as a driver you'll be fine..
