The first annual C7 Summer Kick-Off BBQ was a smashing success. The final count on cars & people attending will be available shortly!! (possibly 25-30 Celica's plus other rides too!!!!) A great HUGE thank you to all participants of this inaugural meet to kick off the C7 Summer Event Calendar. As many of the EMT have said before, this is just the beginning 8).

For those that were unable to attend please be sure to check out the pic's taken. There must have been at least 10 digi-cams clicking away...and that's not including the massive public attention & buzz our cars were creating. We managed to park most of the cars in one section of the lot, but it was a busy busy scene. Constant movement of our cars to get closer and closer. In addition to the pics C7 is proud to display the work of a valued member Syn (Andrew) shortly. 8) Many of you may have noticed Andrew's presence with a large techno-gadget video-type camera thingy. With careful & methodical effort he has documented the day's events on state-of-the-art moving picture digital media. We are currently examining the possibilities of moving this media onto DVD, for club distribution, and promotion. Information will be made availalbe when we have finalized arrangements for release of this material

The event was truly an experience to remember. Picture a parking lot full of celica's. Modified, and gleaming in bright hot sunlight. Now picture a parking lot RAM PACKED of the public walking around the cars and looking inside & around..asking owners questions...general public looking for parking that were getting out of there cars, blocking traffic, just to get a closer look!!!!! The attention C7 received today was tantamount to hosting a car show for celica's only.

Many of you may not have been aware, but C7 was honoured to host a visit from Technical Assistance Expert Mr. Gary Emond, of Toyota Canada corporate. He graciously accepted C7's invitation to attend the BBQ and took the opportunity to bring his son. Many members had the opportunity to discuss technical aspects of their cars, modifications, and he commented on the true club sprit and enthusiasm that was present that day. Many thanks to all for providing a warm reception to our guest !! C7 will be working to bring you more special guests as the C7 Summer unfolds

After eating, cleaning up, and assembling in a line of the remaining celica's ready to exit the park the slow crawl out of the congested lot garnered us all celebrity status. Kids screaming, girls on roller blades oogling..guys' in other cars nodding in respect to da club :D ... it was an unforgettable day, and most of all attended by a great bunch of people. In keeping with the spirit of C7, the event was as much about the great people that make up our club, as it was about the great cars we all drive.

Congratulations to you all...this event kicks off a summer of fun & excitement, and we will be planning for more great successful meets in the future, and no doubt will see more growth in the club, more people-meeting-people...and more cars being modded...oh...did someone mention they wanted rims

Just FANTASTIC!!!
Yesterday was such a good day, I really enjoyed meeting you all, and getting a chance 2 ask everyone some questions!!! I am definatly looking fwd. 2 the other upcoming meets of this summer!!!

And it's really a shame about those damn lights in Toronto!!! I lost all you guys at the light before the DVP cutoff

But this was kinda cool; I dont know if anyone knows a silver celica with the plate "PRO GTS" I think he was either stock or mostly stock, but he was a a light facing north, as we drove by heading west, he pulled up just behind me, and I could see him with his digi cam taking some pics, I'm hoping that he got the C7Perfomance.com sticker, and that we gain a new member!!! :D Then you guys can pay me a small fee for my recruiting abilities

Haha no worries, well I came late and was trying to catch up with you guys but when I noticed psychocelica went on gardiner exp west i was like, wait pete told me they were going onto 404. That's when I got off at the very next exit. Nice to meet you and very nice tails. At first I thought they were the JDM mechanical tails.

yeah, those lights were a pain. I saw you were stopped behind me,and Andrew and Brent in the white 5th gen were behind you. I would have had time to blow the yellow and keep up with Prafull, who I was supposed to follow up to his house. Anyways, after it turned green,I booted it up the Gardiner and caught up to Brandon,Pete and Dave.

Did I mention your stereo kicks ass? :D

I need to clear something up because I think the video expectations are a bit too high (from what I'm hearing). :)

I don't have an entire day's footage. I'd need at least a 3-man (camera, lighting, sound) crew to do a real shoot up to my personal standards. A 2-camera team would be ideal, but alas I am one man.

A number of folks were camera shy (pls dont be in future :) ) But I'm used to that sort of thing. At least I didn't get any 'what the fuck are you doing?' glares I've had in the past, lol. SGR at last year's Auto Tech comes to mind...

Brent also had to get back to his place for an appointment so I couldn't get cruise footage either, so I'm looking at a very short video. Kinda like a music video, certainly not a DVD, heh.

its all good Andrew .. i made a little 2 min video for my car and I know it took about 4 hours of cruising to get enough footage so I know what its all about.

Yep, general rule of thumb is you'll end up using about 20% of your raw footage to make your final cut.

Production value will go up big time when my GlideCam arrives, and the other toys I have coming. :D

Less is always more 8) and in this case something is definately better than nuttin! We recognize that this won't be what you usually put together as a final product, but it's gonna be good enuff to help us show off some of what happened that day

Don't worry about it Andrew, I think a lot of us can appreciate all the work you've put into the taping. I don't think anyone is expecting anything, but if something comes out of it; that's cool too.

(note, I used a semi-colon)

Anyway, personally, I think it would be neat to collect footage all year, and have an end of year video clip or something ... in a few months....
