No kidding dudes, I actually saw this the other day driving by my Condo to Toyota Canada. I had to stop and take a double take on it. I was like WTF a Prius dressed up as a Rally Car.... it even has the huge add on lights on the front bumper.

Actualy this is quite interesting..

Anyone who follows rallying very quickly notices a trend.

"Only the strong survive".

It doesn't matter what sort of car you have, Rally is REALY rough on cars.. (can't remember the last time I saw a GM product in a rally). You can put a lifetime worth of abuse on a car in the space of a single rally. If they can successfuly rally that little sucker in harsh Canadian climate, they will PROVE that the car is sound. And very likely sell a heck of alot more of them.

I know myself my biggest concern about hybrids is how 'tough' they are.

Plus I'm just TOTALY happy to see Toyota getting back in the rally game.. Now how 'bout bringing out a C7 version of the AllTrac? :D

Knowing toyota, they'd rally a matrix or something over a celica. Too bad really. Does anyone remember the last car Toyota rallied? It was a cool ass corolla hatch that was never available in North America...

Too bad :(

Speaking of Corolla. Saw one today without the "sport" package. They're much nicer looking!

Enjoy the picture folks...

You are looking at the recently appointed President of toyota, Mr. Tomakawa...we had dinner with this fine young man (driver) at the annual christmas party...

He's a great guy

Knowing toyota, they'd rally a matrix or something over a celica.

I doubt it..

The Matrix is a BIG, HEAVY car with (bone stock) an enimic engine (althought not nearly as bad as the protege' 5) and the worst handling characteristics of any of the cars that I test drove last year.

I'd rather sling a Celi GT around a rally stage then a Matrix.

I think either way the one thing toyota will probably have to do is suspension upgrades. I have seen "rally" versions of the celica. none that were actually participating though.
