no idea. i should really go and find out :D
the reason why i don't want to rent them but rather make my own is because i can't justify myself spending more money on my car to appear at a show. if i had a sponser who gives me money to do such things (i.e. hallmark toyota) then its a different story.

Just get some police tape! Sorry, that wasn't very helpful.

that is hilariious...police tape it is!!!!!!!!!!
You can wrap it around ...uh...actually you could fabricate a stanchion easily..just go to Home Depot and poke around ...you'll find an abundance of raw materials including pole/fence type materials, wood (which can be painted in a pewter, steell colour...tons of stuff)..
That's the easiest, cheapest way..

thanks for the tip.
you guys think i should use police tape? its a funny idea, but i don't want it to contrast with the car color. anyone have a yellow parking ticket they can lend me? 8)

I wouldn't worry about people messing with your car. One of the best parts of a show is getting close to the cars.

yeah i was thinking about that. and who would pay money to go into a car show to cause damage. costs money and time.
its just that the letter they sent me "strongly suggests" to use stanchions. we'll see.

I would suggest you use the stanchions. I've seen the way people clammer close to the cars, pick @ the door handles to get in...grease marks, kids leaning, scratching, kicking tires...
You aren't a car dealership that can afford to have the car detailed, & painted after show-damage cuz' it's covered as a "cost of doing business". You are an invididual rice-boy with a hot car. You have to pay for your own repairs, and will suffer the loss of someone doing something stupid to the car. (mental note)
I agree that it's great to get close to the cars, but only if you don't own them I say. Remember the Ferrari's and lambo's every year @ the auto show...they don't even let you get close enough to look in the windows...they know the public is dangerous to the condition of the car.
How much do you want to protect your car? I've worked with the public & I've seen what they're capable of ... member... your rice-mobile in the middle of nascar-like population...you'll be a natural target for some a-hole to "play" with your ride...
Take this as food for thought...

I guess it depends .. I don't think i'd worry that much. maybe I just don't worry enough though. defeats the purpose of doing the interior if no one can see it though hehe .. i would do it if you weren't going to be around your car much. but at places like darknights the owner was usually sitting withing about 10-20feet of the car.

alright point taken, however if someone wanted to do something, all that is preventing them is a thin piece of material :?:
brandon, if i am to use stanchions, i would arrange them so you would be able to look inside. i'll be using the 'half-window down' method.

Brandon...I totally forgot about that...you definately want to see the interior...I guess not really being in the "scene" I totally forgot that this is all about show your "custom" ride...and the inside of your ride...is a big part of it...
I think you should get as much advice from Brandon as you can...sounds like he's been to a few of these before...I've only been to the mass-population car shows in Montreal & Toronto...
Makes me nervous knowing my car is gonna be open to all those smelly, dirtry people...I dunno...I need to go to see what it's all about... might as well use your ride as the guinea pig
