So i'm not going to go into things. However I pay a RUDE amount in insurance.
Does anyone have tips on how to save. Things to get .. or better yet not to get?? Now before anyone says anything I've called about 20 places for insurance so for what I'm covered (everything and anything) its actually a "good" price.

having drivers ed helps.
sports/sport compact car colors to avoid: yellow, red, & black.
2 doors = higher rates
edit: check out this place. they search 20-30+ companies and its free.

yeah thats where I ended up getting my insurance. hmmm ahh well
having drivers ed helps.
Only if you're a newbie. It doens't mean fuck all after you get into an accident, or if you're already been driving for a few years.
And you can only take it once.

I do have drivers ed. I also have a clean record. Never put in a claim, never been pulled over.

I believe a security system will help a bit. I think it is less risk of theft so it is a slight decrease there...

How much do you guys each pay a month? Mine just went up to $145.00 monthly.
That's pretty bad I think for being 26.
It's due to you age bro, and the fact you have a current-model car.
You're in your current age bracket until your 23rd birthday, then it goes down in price a bit. Then, once you're 25 you're considered a 'responsible adult' in the Insurance world.
Yes. It's just a big crock of shit to get young people paying more. But it's legal
I'll be 25 this November, lets hope I get a break considering my car's 12 years old. FYI, I pay $233 a month. But I had a claim, and got fucked over my my ins. company. Never, EVER believe your insurance agent unless something is in writing. K?

blah....
I'm 27 and pay $250/month due to 3 minor speeding tickets over the past 3 years. No claims and no accidents either, plus my points are perfect. 3 minor tickets and bam, the insurance company fucks you in da ass.

I think standard rate difference between the GT and GT-S is almost $100/month. Somehow that extra 40Hp from the 4banger makes it a lethal weapon

My rates went down a lot when I turned 25. Also living in Toronto doesn't help.
What you could do is "bundle" your house and car together under the same company. State farm gives big discounts for that sort of stuff. If you're still at home, try bundling with your parents. Then you can get multi drive discounts. It's like pinball, it's all about the modifiers.

I am going to have to check out www.insurancehotline.com right now. I was paying $2600 for my Celica & accord but when my insurance is up for renewal, I am being told it will be $3600. I am so pissed!!! I was told about $3000 or so but I just received the official letter that my new rate will be $303 to be exact in March 17, 2003. I've been driving for over 10 years with no claims and this is my reward.

Just received the bad news. $3611 was the lowest quote.
Guess I will have to work overtime or find another part time job to supplement the extra $80 or so per month.

Great!!! 32 and over the hill. I hope I am not the oldest one on the board. I have to start a new thread in the off topic forum to find out.

That is what pisses me off!!! 32 and married with no tickets. My broker told me that insurance companies are not making any money these days so a lot of insurance companies are not taking new accounts. Just renewal customers. It was with Western Assurance but they don't want my business now. New rip of insurance company looks like it will be ING.

Mine got bumped up last year man, you know what they blamed it on? 9/11. Yup, they even took the time (and more money) to print and include a 'Why Your Rates Are Up' brochure to put blame on terrorism.
Because...y'know...those terrorists drive Celicas all the time - so it's only fair to assume every Celica owner is at risk of blowing up their Celicas in the name of Allah. Excuse me while I rig some C4 in my trunk.

Given the new model year, style of car, your age, and the rate hikes across the board. Expect to pay around $4500 for 12months insurance.
That's my guestimate anyways
