View Full Version : FALL TOUR 2003 - A SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow!!!! Where do I even begin?? I'm still completely amazed at what we accomplished today.
I want to thank each and every single driver, passenger, and club that expressed interest in attending this surreal event, and especially to those that were able to attend. Today C7 hosted a meet in the Hockley Valley for over 200 cars...everything from G35's to Bimmers, to Honda, Accura, MR2, Matrix, Focus, Sentra, Altima, Celica, Subaru...they all came out to represent...( and i know many more, but I'm so exhausted they're not all coming to mind right now..)
What happened today will go down in history as the first of a series of events that is bringing our club community together in peace & harmony. In the face of obvious dilemma, confusion, and uncertainty 200 drivers maintained their calm, patience, and common-sense as the C7 EMT struggled to work through several unplanned and unexpected obstacles including, a complete road block in our tour route due to a major motor vehicle accident (not related to our group), and lost drivers. This is a first event of this kind that we have attempted to organize and while we can say "we did it"..it could hardly be described as easy. The tour of cars had to be stopped several times through the route to maintain our formation, other parts of the tour were split off from the main contingent and rejoined the formation perfectly later on. This is thanks to the co operation of all of you that came out today...without your co operation and trust this day was not possible, so thank you.
There were several lessons learned today that will be recognized next year as top priorities in our organizational plans. As you might imagine a pre-published, pre-distributed map & route is 1st on the list, among other items.
See so many cars, so many people, so many faces, and all behaving civil and without incident was truly a C7 moment...this is what our club is all about, and this event was a great way to personify that. We'll all have stories to tell, suggestions to make, and something to say, so please feel free to share with us your thoughts.
We invite you to log into our forums,(http://forums.c7performance.com) and give us your feedback. Tell us what you thought of the route, the people, the feeling out there today on the roads...tell us about what you liked, didn't, and what you'd like to see changed next year...this annual event will be an event for all of us to enjoy and will get better and better every year. We'll do our best to take account of what we hear, and build a better event for 2004. And remember...our contest for Best Fall Tour Photo closes October 31, 2003.

On behalf of the C7 Executive Management Team, I want to thank you all for participating in the 2003 Fall Tour and I trust that this event will help to build respectful and useful interclub relations in the years to come. Have a safe winter season, and I hope to see you all again soon at another meet in the future!!
Warm wishes for a safe & happy off season,

Hi All,
Want to thank the organizers for a successful event. Coming from another club (TOProtege.com), I must say you guys handled it well for such a large amount of participates. Well done!!
Large thanks to Ian (is that his name?) for allowing us 'city folk' to park at his place for FREE!! (Even though the sandwiches were a bit expensive)

If there was only one meet you could have shown up to all year, this would have been the one to make an appearance at.
On behalf of the Ford Escort Clubs, I just want to congratulate all the members of C7Performance who helped to organize this meet. It was a total success and we had a great time at the event.
Aside from the few minor setbacks (accident on Hurontario, and my group getting lost) I think the cruise went rather smoothly.
Special thanx to Prafull (Waykewl) for keeping everything and everyone calm and organized, and for a kickass stock Celica spoiler.
:D
Hopefully we can do this again next year!!

i don't really aggree, as a passanger i was with another buddie of mine, it was a really bad cruise/event, everyone was surprised by how many cars that went and also how many people got lost.
i was pretty amazed how many people told me there was no maps avail on this cruise as it was advertised there was, and since most, if not all the ppl from c7 was taking lead, the rest of us got lost and didn't know where to go... since most of us split up and didn't have anymore intrested case we were lost, we decided to go home.
I am could ensure there was suppose to be a c7 person/car per every group just in case of getting lost. but nothing was done in that regards (again false info)
In conclusion, i don't know how you could think it would be a sucess, unless ppl were following you, please feel free to explain

well i see what you mean but people were racing plain and simple. There was a case where the Infinity group were going well over 160 in an 80 zone going the wrong way not following. I tried to catch up and couldn't.
I got the rest of the people and got them back on course. When you look at the turnout we had I'd say 95+% of the people there.
All we asked is that people stay in the line and follow the other cars. They didn't.

I can see why your so frustrated.. and im sure a few poeple feel the same way but there is certien things that happened behind the scenes that made it impossible for the maps to get printed..
Also, it is very difficult for 7 people to keep 200 cars together and what really screwed things up was that accident on Hurontario and Steels which no one planned for and it was impossible to for see..
I think thats what frustrated people alot since no one knew where to go..
The 7 EMT members had their hands full trying to get as many people back on course but it was clost to impossible but they did a great job getting as many as they did. as well alot of the other people helped out too..
Taking 200 cars through the city is not a easy task and i agree that maps would have helped alot but every plan will fail and thats the realety of life.. Thats why over all the tour was a success becauas majorety of the people made it and had fun..
If im incorrect in some of this please feel free to correct me..

we lost everybody as well... just made our way up to the forks of the credit road.. saw all the rsx guys going the wrong way... ended up driving up and down, through like 4 seperate speed traps... all we saw was a fiero club, an NSX club and about 5 million dollars worth of rolls royces cruising around together. we decided to head back when we couldnt get a hold of anyone on the radio or see anyone for over a half hour.. just saw the turbo teg with the black hood and jdm front all by himself heading south on mississauga rd... was neat seeing all the cars. but at least knowing where the stop location was coulda helped it. also hwy 10 and steeles had been closed quite a while before the start of the cruise and i remember one of the club members telling you guys that it was closed as well... once i saw us turn north on 10 from brittania i knew it was going to be a disaster... was cool to see all the cars and i still had a good time. but yea... it was not perfect from our pov :)
but thumbs up guys for putting together something like this. at least you'll know for next time

To respond to the comments above regarding the "success of the meet"...
Your comments about the days events are harsh, but lined with truths. As everyone will attest many events today were unplanned and unexpected...including the speed racers (who were advised otherwise before the meet) ..not to mention people that couldn't follow a single simple instruction (stay in a single line)...
A decision was made not to provide a map route today. This decision was marred with criticism because of the unexpected actions of a few drivers today, and more obviously because of the onset of a major obstacle (the motor vehicle accident that blocked our primary northbound route - this was the stage we normally would have all been inline together..and it was blocked - by 8 police cruisers..with no visible or recognizable detour provided for by the York Regional Police.
There were several things that we had planned to occur (including marking the tour cars, that didn't materialize..our club decal man was called away to another city...and like that one thing after another seemed to put up "roadblocks" in the smooth execution of our original plans...
In turn, our actions as an organizing team were on-the-fly and just-in-time...and that's why it appeared as though things were so half-hazzard to those from the outside.
I respect your feedback, and appreciate your honesty, and I know this years event will bring many lessons learned for next years 2004 Fall tour.
All in all, most ended up at the site, we all managed to be together without major incident or accident, and from the look on most people faces...I saw smiles...
A lot of time & effort went into setting this up today, and I apologize on behalf of the group for the frustrating experience you had today. I hope you can look back on today's events after seeing the pictures and see the postive impact we've made on interclub relations...in retrospect we all have 20/20 vision, and that includes C7 EMT... hope you consider joing us next year to see how we've improved the whole experience...like most things it's going to get better with age

for a first attempt, i thought things went relatively well. I was in one of the groups that got lost (on more than one occassion) but we luckily managed to meet up with everyone.
having said that, a map would have been helpful.
I do look forward to next year, and will get a lot more of my bimmer buddies to attend.

Hey everybody,
I just wanted to say thanks for a great day even though there wasn't much sunshine until the end but I still had a blast. I've never seen so many amazing cars in one place. As far as the "Infinity Group" comment, I think that was the point where we were all lost and trying to find the group, but I don't remember ever going that fast. With so many cars out today, it was hard to tell who was part of the tour and who was just out enjoying a Sunday drive. A suggestion that I would like to make is that we have windshield stickers so that we can easily identify who is part of the tour and who isn't. I got separated from the group right at the start due to a "Mother nature" call for my daughter and I spent half the trip up trying to rejoin the other G35's that I started out with. I apologize for any irresponsible things that I may have done trying to catch back up, such as doing a quick U-Turn when I saw them going the other way on the part of the trip were we were on the newly paved road, but I was just trying to rejoin them.
All in all this was a great experience for me and I hope that you guys will invite us back again next year.
Awesome job Waykewl and the C7Performance team.

Hey guys
Just wanted to personally say thanks for the awsome event you put on today. Despite a few technical glitches beyond your control (like a severe accident in the middle of a major intersection.... taps to the fellow escort) I think the event went off without a glitch. Logistics is always hard when that many vehicles are involved. For a first time event of this calibre you did great
I've got to compliment those of you who selected the route to and from. The roads were really something and a blast to drive. Not only that but this time of year they were awsome to look at as well. It was a really enjoyable experience.
See you all next year

Well, all was going great for me,when 2 Sentras and another Celica were headed east down Hwy 9 and passed Tottenham Rd and pulled over and I said we were supposed to head to Belfountain and I told them to follow me there,so as we proceeded to go,they turn off on a sideroad while I kept going straight,I drove through Belfountain, couldn't see anyone, passed a blue Tiburon as I was leaving and I was fed up playing catch up and I just left and headed back to Mississauga to my dad's place. I had fun while it lasted, but it would be much better if we were grouped together in say packs of 10 or 15 cars, with lead and tail cars, rather than a complete convoy of 200 cars, because on Hwy 9,I saw people from the tour going north, east, west and south.

Nice event. S**T load of cars!!!! My bro was one of the guys who got lost with the G35 group. Man was he pissed.
It also looks like the street racing was minimized.
Good work everyone.
The tour was a pure success! it was fairly well organized until we had our main route blocked off, than troubles started to happen. Some of the guys just gave up and left, but it was alright, because alot of us managed to catch up.
C7 EMT, great job boys. We have to go out for a beer! i'll show up at the next TR meet.
I think i can speak for alot of the Toronto Subaru club memebers that this tour was really freaken amazing (the routes were damn ass sexy!!" i couldnt resist screeching my tires through every turn and burning more than half a tank of gas!!.
The stop was amaazing too, lets all the clubs interact with each other. My only complaint.... $7 SANDWICHES!!! HOLY CRAP! I BOUGHT TWO!!
Anywayz!! Iam proud to be a sponsor of this tour, and you can garauntee iam going to be next years sponsor FO SHIZZY! haha

great turnout guys
too bad for the unexpected events (ie accident/roadblock/gettin lost)
and must agree w/ the handfull of ppl who suggested that maps w/ directions would have been great
you C7 guys wer great, you shoudnt haved shouldered all the responsibilities like the small ones such as having to print the maps/directions, you could have just asked
( would have done it too  )
w/ all the clubs that wer going, someones bound to help
that way it wont put too much strain on you guys
just a thought
oh yeah
maybe a tour leader for every club too
meet b4hand, go thru the route
like your 'pre fall colours tour'
but w/ one representative of each club thats goin
thats about all i can think of now
eh heh, tired like every1 else
again, thank you C7 for all your hard work
and to all the clubs, great going guys!

Glad everyone had a good time! (for the most part).
This tour was certainly a trial by fire for the myself and the rest of the EMT crew.. Last years tour was all of 10-12 cars. An event of this magntude has SIMPLY never been done before, . Certainly well beyond my wildest immaginations (and/or nightmares  ). We certainly learned from the experences and sincerly appreciate the feedback and comments. I've already planed the hell out of next year (not much else to do on the 2 hour drive back to Peterborough  )
My biggest thanks goes to the ones that made this event happen.
YOU the participants!!!!!!! :thumbups:
ALL of us were paranoid as hell about Police presence, and everyone (for the most part  ) were on your very best behaviour. You all represented yourself, your clubs, and our sport/hobbie exceedingly well!!!
Jeezus everyone give ALL of yourselves a serious pat on the back..
the next cruise i would recommandation is maybe you should have one of the guys from every club meet up with you guys to have a chat about this and maybe you guys could origanize this abit better, with anyone could have a task or something
totally agree with u about this 1, but with all first time events (of this magnatude) there is always room for improvement next time 'round, with that said C7 EMT's couldn't have done a better job (however if ur group has 2 or more cars its jus common sense to all stick 2gether, don't really need a leader IMO)
Thanx! from me goes out to the Honda Prelude club (especially Shant) for Sticking 2gether the whole time! while helping me catch up with the C7 crew.. Thanx 2 Sammy!!
HAHA It was a blast nonetheless and i'm very glad to have met u! U guys rock and u2 girl! Much thanx 2u all!!

This was a great meet. well at least for the first part before me and about 15 cars got lost and didn't know where to go lol....it was great to see so many cars participating in this event it was great to meet who i got to meet. by the time i found the place( don't ask me how i found the meeting area, just drove into it literally) the meet was over  , but still non the less it was amazing to see the line of cars waiting to go and continue the tour.
just as a suggestion for next yr though, let at least all the C7 guys know where/when the cars are supposed to be. posting a map for everyone to copy and print from the site would be a cheaper way of distributing the map as well. also something to consider is maybe a meet spot for people who do get lost. u know, meet at a certain time/place and someone would come at get them at the and bring them to the meet location. I had so many of the lost group pull me over or asking where do we go cuz they were lost. i felt bad when i told them i didn't know where to go etc. :? and that i didn't have any details or directions for them.
But for a first tour of this magnitude it was AMAZING. GREAT JOB GUYS! i'm looking forward to next yrs tour/event

In conclusion, i don't know how you could think it would be a sucess, unless ppl were following you, please feel free to explain
Yes, what ever happened to a celica being in front and back of the pack? :? :?
I think the tour got messed up as soon as we hit hurontario. No celica in site, just a lude in front of me. I ended up following the escort and lude club. They looked like they knew what they were doing, as they had the walkie talkies. One sole celica was with us...Angus. We ended up getting lost, lost and more lost. I ended up going home after taking my pics and when my hunger pains could not be controlled.
I just hope that he got some shots of that Delorian..
I saw the Delorian briefly, once, the cam wasn't running at the time  There's a Delorian in London somewhere, probably the same guy given the rarity of the car. Maybe I'll see it again :D
I got a lot of trees, but not a lot of car action. Mostly due to (I hate using excuses) the detour seperated groups from prime 4-lane road shots.
What I want to do, is make a *staged* video for C7, something you'd see on TV and not trying to scramble around stops or trying to keep up with the main pack (which we couldnt given the speedy Infinity group and the detour). Something that showcases the cars, the drivers, and the scene.
I have ideas for a documentary vid, I'll give more info later.
Pete - I hope your interview bit turns out ok. That was cool :D Your camera guy would have been better off being closer given the use of an onboard mic and the angle at which both subjects were positioned.

it was a tough day...and there were many drivers that peeled away off stop lights, passing other cars...as the lead car there were several times when other cars were passing, but eventually falling back into line... we are focusing our efforts for next year on running the event in a completey different way...
It turned out that the convoy size was so huge as the front car I couldn't even keep radio contact with the rear (another thing that we didn't plan for)..so we had to try to keep cell phone contact..then we lost cellular coverage...Mike so many things happened to us on the fly, not to mention trying to deal with manoeuvering around the obstacles.. on top of this..people were entering into the C7 EMT radio channel, and we couldn't keep a steady clean communication channel with each other... that too was hindering our ability to keep in touch..
As a organizing team we have grown by leaps and bounds, and learned so much, and continue to learn. Many will forget that last years event was no more than 20 cars...and this years event we were trying to co-ordinate the movement of multiple clubs, people, and personalities...that was a real challenge...all within the scope of the issues we were faced with on tour day.
This is an intitiative that to this date hasn't been attempted, and all things considered, we did it. We will celebrate that fact, and we recognize the areas that need more work & improvement. We will be working closely with participating club leaders next year in our planning efforts with specific attention to traffic logistics, route, and administration.
For the record, we're not professionals at this, and we've never claimed to be. We're a bunch of guys that love our cars, love meeting new people that wanted to go for a drive in the country...then we realized there were hundreds out there that could relate to our C7 community vision and that's when things really snowballed and got exciting...and so this is just first chapter in what we hope will become a very proud Canadian story...
Keep your comments coming people, we are taking notes, and we will do our best to learn from what we hear!!

it was a really exciting day ... i actually enjoyed the chase :o. instead of a normal cruise it became more of " Fall Colours Chase Cruise "
a suggestion:
i think it would be good if next year the gathering is done on the outskirts of the city or by not going via busy main streets. we could have taken different route >>> Mississauga rd north thru Belfountain, then Hwy 10 north to Hockley Valley (sp?) <<< not many traffic lights and less traffic could have been a smooth ride  oh and a route map is a must.
well i see what you mean but people were racing plain and simple.
I certainly understand your frustration. But being part of the G35 group and was taking the initial lead, I was in the same position as you.
After I passed through the accident scene, folks that I was following just sped up through the lights; I was trying to catch up while my wife helped to watch the back so not to lose our team. For a while, I need to speed in the straight, but not nearly as fast as stated, to keep up with the other groups, and stopped at the turning light to wait for our guys so they knew where I was turning. It was far from a relaxing cruise. My wife has no intention to become a navigator and she certainly not enjoying the chase part. It was not until we finally caught up with the RSXs and MR2s, then I can relax a bit.
Many thanks to the driver in the white RSX, Chris?, who came picked us up and led us back..
I apologize for any inconvenience that was caused. And I hope others to understand that we’re not out there racing. In fact we faced the same challenges like everybody else.
Overall, the C7 guys did a great job in organizing this event, it just difficult to get 200+ cars moving in an organized fashion. I would concur with the suggestion that each group should elect a lead, a briefing to the leaders about the route prior to departure, and assign a channel on the FRS for the leads in each group to stay in touch.

I think a good point I heard from one of our EMT guys was that maps are almost a bad idea for the fact that people will race (and they already were racing not knowing where they were going). I'd say giving away the middle point would be best.
The way i see it is everyone behind me that followed never got lost. We went off corse cause of the accident and then we went off course to try and catch the people racing (got some not all).
A couple people have come here complaining about getting lost. When you look at a pic on the field where there is like 200+ people I can't see how anyone can say it was anything but a success. Prafull did post his # on the board and I remember one of the people who got lost calling him and Prafull got them back on track. I agree that we should have some sorta document with either directions or points of where to stop or something.
However the question has to be asked if 200 people make it without any major issue why didn't the other 5 or 10?
Overall I think it went very well with room for improvement. Next year things will be better with more organization. It'll get tons better and bigger next year. :D

As a G35driver.com participant, it was an awesome day with lots of cool people who share a passion for their four wheel ride. Despite some of the challenges that everyone I'm sure is learning from, it's not everyday something like this takes place so full credit has to acknowledged to the organizers who took the initiative to pull the 2nd Annual Fall Colours Tour together.
The only thing that I can suggest than hasn't been already mentioned is...let's have the first Spring Air Tour in 2004!!!! To celebrate the coming of great weather, opening of sun roofs and getting rid of those god awful things called snow tires.
Enjoyed meeting everyone and you're all welcomed to check out some of the pics for the day.

I really agree with the point of us all meeting on the outskirts of the city, and not having to move through city traffic. Traffic lights and other traffic are a pain, and it's busy,so there will always be hold ups.Take the accident for example.
I probably wouldn't have gotten lost if I had stayed with Brandon and Mike on Hwy 10 but I had passed them because so much of the other group was ahead,so I figured I'd follow with them since we're all supposed to end up at the same place. What I don't understand at all,is that we had a line of like 20 cars come from St.Andrew's Sideroad and turn right (east) onto Hwy 9. They all turned right, and when we went past Tottenham Rd,that was when I figured something was wrong because we were going the wrong way. It was a mess for me,because I had no radio, walkie talkie or cell phone on me,so I was basically left to me own devices and talking to other members who were pulled over as well. What was the point of going east on Hwy 9? Was that even part of the route? I just don't understand how people were getting lost and unorganized. ???

Hey folks.. Prafull you said I should post this story, so here goes.. A bunch of us got lost after the detour, about 15 of us maybe.. We grouped up at a gas station and found that nobody knew where they were going or had the # of an EMT.. I'm not sure why we kept going, but we did.. Meanwhile between the gas station and the place where we ended up pulling over, I called my brother in California and told him to go on the forum and look for a phone number.. He was very sleepy and it was taking him a long time to find it (he looked through 18 pages, god bless him, before he realized he wasn't even in the right thread).. So we all pulled over somewhere, everyone was getting really frustrated because we knew we were really not in the right place (we found out later that we'd gone into the second leg of the tour). The Integra from Quebec took off.. Finally my brother found the number! Someone called, and we were on our way.. We were almost there when we lost another person in our party.. In the end we made it there.. Someone said they enjoyed the chase and I must agree with them, even though we missed food and stuff.. All in all a very fun day.. Hopefully will be up in this part of the world next year! (we live in California) Cheers to everyone involved.

Holy Snizzap! that was a shietload of cars!!
I want to thank Pete and the crew for hosting the best and biggest meet of the year!
some of my thoughts on the day:
-I understand why maps werent provided but to be honest, this was a cruise and if anyone wanted to treat it as a poker run then they are holding themselves responsible for any trouble they get themselves into.
-I think some periodic stop points along the route would have been good to let any groups falling behind to catch up.
-it was obvious that all it took was one red light to FUBAR anyone from keeping together as a group...
-my best suggestion? -----> have a member from each club lead their group... that means that you guys should have organized with someone from each club and given them proper directions and contact info in case the groups get split up... I think that would have made things easier instead of everyone scrambling to find Pete's cell number online...
(one of our guys actually called home and told someone to log on to C7 and find Pete's number... hehe)

In adding to your points LDY KLLA,
I thought that having three to four official tour pace cars up ahead where one would stop at a major turn to direct the oncoming group would ensure that everyone is going the right way. The other pace cars would move ahead to the next major turn and stop there and so on. Each pace car would be responsible for ensuring that the entire convey makes the proper turn, then move ahead to the next turn that follows and not covered by another pace car in front. This way, all the important turns are overlapped and covered by a pace car.
The thing that screwed everyone up was what street to make a turn. Straight-aways weren't a problem. In fact the straights were cool when the tour group took over all the lanes. Sorta looks like that Civic Nation commercial from Honda. Awesome!
Prafull Koli
10-21-2003, 11:37 AM
wicked!! we're all on the same page here...we're talking about stationing marker cars at critical turn points...we're talking about staggering group departures by 20 min...and each tour group led by C7 car on a unique FRS chanell leading 1 club (say Rs-x's )..we have enough C7 peeps to easily help chaperone each convoy through the first 30km maze..and then we all meetup down the hwy 10 straightaway or at the site itself..we're playing around with a few different options....and you're right Ben that was sa-weeeeeeeeeet 8)
Keep the ideas flowing people..this is exactly how we're gonna smooth this thing over next time 'round

There was only one hiccup; my heart skipped a beat when i saw the line of police cars on hurontario. i thought we were getting raided or something. :D Besides that, it was a blast. The turnout was insane. i honestly didnt expect that many to show up.
to make myself more useful, here are my suggestions:
- maps are necessary. as ideal as it sounds to keep everyone in one long organized lane, that'll never happen, for so many reasons.
- i like ians idea of one or two leaders for each group/club. since each club since to have their own frs channel we'd be able to let each other know where to go, just in case.
- pit stops probably wont work cause it'll be almost impossible to find adequate parking for 150+ cars. the two prior points will hopefully keep anyone from getting lost.
umm...thats all i can thikn of right now. theres not really much to complain about at all. you can be sure the TorontoRSXClub will represent again next year. :D

yeah...hahaha...that was pretty funny. I sure wish we were driving NSXs.
we should have been 20 cars strong, but a few people didnt make it. well too bad for them, cause they missed out.
200+??? did you get an official count while at the grounds??
well yeah, i gave my honest feedback in hopes that next years will be even better if thats possible.
oh yeah, one last thing. most of the rsx guys didnt tag along for the forks cruise. it was partly due to the fact they thought it would be too slow going (which was true). so maybe, MAYBE, there can be an alternate route for us to cruise to next year.
last thing, to the matrix driver on pg2. we werent going the wrong way, if you look at the pics we were all there. The rsx crew knows caledon pretty well. :D

Im so happy with my radios otherwise Mark (shiny blue escort) and i would have got lost for sure. For the most part we just listened to what the c7 guys were saying so we could stay on track but it got to a point where we were out of range. maybe next year they will have better radios with further range. yeah yeah more gadgets! :D :D :D :D

I've seen a lot of great suggestions for next year... I agree that with some improvements, the tour would be very hard to beat.
I'm sure you've heard most of these suggestions already, but here goes anyway
1) During the predrive, write down the turn by turn instructions, and draw it up on a map... publish to web, and everyone stays in the know.
2) each club should have a leader with an FRS radio, and every rider should have one if at all possible.
3) upon reaching a turn, the C7 leader can broadcast they are making the turn. Then each group can broadcast when their lead car is reaching the turn. Since FRS are range-limited, this ensures info is passed on as cleanly as possible.
4) Set 'lane guides' for the roads between each turn. If a left turn is coming up, cars should be on the left....right turn, in the right. this can be part of the directions to help minimize group break apart.
5) When changing lanes, work from the last car forward. FRS from leader to change lanes, rear car goes first. This guarantees space for the cars in front.
6) Have each attending driver sign a waiver. C7 is, by default, liable for the actions of the other clubs..best to have the rules and liability waiver for each car
7) Sticker/grease pencil on front and rear windshield clearly visible so we can find other cars that are part of the group
8 ) If a group needs to catch up, or there's a chance a group might miss an important turn, post a car at a corner, or tie balloons on the corner (red for righ-hand turn, green for left, or something like that.)...
Really, the tour went off well considering the number of cars, and the limits of C7 having radio priveleges only. It was hard to be following a C7 leader only to have them blast through a yellow light and lose the rest of the mid-group :-P...
Also, another thought... since the OPP showed up already, would it hurt to have folks pony up a few bucks to rent some cops for escorts (that's what the Mini cooper club did)... I think it's like $35/hr per cop, and it's all cash in their pockets... I was held up in traffic for half an hour while a group of 300 motorcycles passed by between police escorts one day on Spadina.
just some thoughts of course.. look forward to next year's outting.

excellent comments and recommendations ladies and gentleman...keep them coming!
few quick notes regarding the police escort stephen. we actually visited a couple police stations on seperate occasions and received pricing on the cost of escorts. the cost ended up in the 600+$ range if i remember correctly and the cops technically aren't allowed to run you all through a red. since we attempted to keep this meet as cost-friendly as possible, the police escort didn't happen...but something we will definitely think of for next year is sponsorship funds runs high 8)

No problem..it was fate that you should have that wing.. just got it less than 4 hours before you did for $25 from Angus..another member of C7..I already have a stock wing..but for some reason I knew I had to buy Angus's wing...I had some crazy freekin' motive for it...wasn't exactly sure..and that's when I met you, Oren & Mags...talk about destiny!!!

Sweet. We've got to find a way to showcase you video guys. Perhaps we'll add a section to the website!!!
Love watching all the cars "roll-out"!
Do you think you could make another one with a slightly higher screen size/ less compression?
btw: again, that was totally awesome. It brought back all my stress, and reminds me of all the excitment. I can't wait till next year!!!
Whoot! whoot!!
I haven't finished mine yet (got two more), but Oren I'd probably recommend rendering your vid at 15fps (cant tell the difference on a small web file anyway!) and 16bit mono sound, or if you're thrifty - 8bit. This should enable you to bump up the picture quality without killing the bandwidth too much.
