did anyone read the article about the ferrai enzo in the toronto star today?
it was at the auto show.

included in this $1 million car are:
"enzo has a pair of extednable flaps in the front sides of the car, and a deployable rear spoiler. At lower speeds, the front flaps are retracted, and the rear spoiler extended, to generate maxium downforce."
"30L/100km gas consumption"
"Four sizes of seat are available: small, medium, large, and widebody..."
"there are some 62 adjustments available for the seat, 16 more for the pedals, plus reach and rake tweaks for the steering wheel."
"[interior] is all carbon fibre, black leather and aluminum..."
"no power windows" --> weight saver.
"You can't miss the engine. It's sitting right behind you, almost out in the open, separated from you by a glass window."
"double overhead camshaft, variable valve timing, variable intake manifold, 65-degree, naturally aspirated V12, displacing 6.0 litres and generating 660 hp at 7800rpm, with an 8200 rpm rev limiter."
"the only transmission available is an F1-style paddle-shifted six-speed manual"
"no more than 399 enzos will be built"

however if i were to somehow win it (as if they would "give" one away) I would probably Tear down my block leaving all the rubber on the new tires on a path of everywhere I went around the neighbourhood, put it in the garage and sell it

I actually don't like the looks of the Enzo. Mind you I would be more than happy to have one!
I prefer the looks of the new Murcealago (sp?), plus it's a few hundred thousand cheaper and near the same performance.

Meh I think both are a joke. its a 1million $$ car that is high 600hp .. how much power do some of these old muscle cars crank out once done up ?? like 800-1000hp .. I bet none of them cost over 200k
I have a small soft spot for Domestics despite how ugly they are lol

ya really .. then again if you can afford a car that is 1mill probably don't care that you're insurance is going to be like 10k .. a month :giggle:
I personally think they killed the spirit of the "F" or "anaversery" cars that they produced with the Enzo. I love the F40 and F50 and esspecially the F50 GT1, but the new enzo is a step backwards. The engine isn't advanced enough and they tried to play on the F1 looks more then a GT1 car which it should be. The F50's engine was a lot closed to the F1 engine and was a completely new road car design for Ferrari. The Enzo is just a messaged version of the 550's engine and doesn't offer the type of perforace I expected from ferrari.
As for modding, I was in Seattle on vacation a couple years ago and there was a F40 in the service center. It was getting work done to it because the owner wanted more HP. He already had it modded upto 800+ HP with new intercoolers, piping and better cooling. Now it was back in the shop and they were doing a new port and polish, cams, and ingintion stuff and were going to raise the boost to get it over 1000 hp. So people do mod these car and it isn't cheap.

Are you guys serious...This is a hand crafted machine that is a limited addition (hence the 1 million price) made in honour of the great Enzo Ferrari..
"STEP BACK"...I dont think so..its only the fastest street production car in the world coming to its owners with renowned F-1 technology.... I wouldnt mind a car that runs 9's on the 1/4 mile and will destroy any car on any circuit... Jeez the car only goes from 0-60 in 3.6 seconds... what a horrible car eh... It's just the most advanced, fastest and agile Ferrari to ever be produced... the styling is impecable, it aids in the sleek handling and downforce...
Holy smokes I cant believe what I have been reading in this thread... this car was designed for multimillionaires or billionaires not the everyday working class... It is a collectable that will only gain in value...so as far is it being a lil pricey...dont think so if you look at it in the long term...look at a few of the other exotics... Bugatti, Lamborgini, Maclaren, neither has anything that can compare to the Enzo, however in a similar price range...

I don't think anyone is saying its a crap car .. but I think you hit the nail on the head .. its for the lifestyle of the rich and rediculous. You have to admit even Lambo's and such are a couple hundred thousand but the enzo is more than double .. its definately just a rich mans toy.

the restaurant where i worked last summer saw alot of rich customers come in...many were snooty to the max that they even swore at me...anyways.
there was this one guy that came in. maybe late 20's early 30's. he had an orange lambo murcor...(sp). asked him how much it was and he said 300,000 grand. he showed me the interior and the doors. i asked if he gets hassled by the cops. his response was that one time the cops even shut down part of queen street to watch him speed. lucky guy 8)

hum i don't think so, the fastest car with the most F1 technology ever sold was a ferrari but it's not the Enzo. It was the Ferrari F50 GT1 with a total production run of 3, yes three. The ferrari F50 engine was an the 1990 F1 engine with 2 cylinders added on to make it a V12 and tunes so it would actually idle below 6000 rpm's. Ferrari put that engine in the 333sp and took it racing. They won tons of races with it and it was still a dominate engine 10 years later.
As for it being hand made, all Ferrari's are hand made, they don't even use impact or air wrenches. It's all hand wrenches or rachets. I'm a hard core Ferrari fan, but to me the Enzo is a discrase to the late Enzo Ferrari and his son Dino. And I know there are a lot of Ferrari people that agree with me.
Is it fast of?
course it is.
Is it as advanced as a step forward as the F40 or F50 were in their times?
Hell no, the cheaped out on the car and then decided to name it Enzo to try and get everyone to pay attention to the name and not the car.
Just my opinion, you may think i'm wrong and I may be but I pansionate about Ferrari and I don't miss any F1 races and try to follow any of the 355 and 360 challenge races that I can and any race that has 333sp's in them even with the Judd engine's.
If you want to see pics of the F50 GT1 it is here:

They were going to take the car racing like ther did with the F40 GTE and kick ass like old times, but the rule but was rewritten and they would have been competing a real true GT1 car with prototype cars and so backed out. For those who don't know a real GT1 car is street legal and can be driven right off the track and onto the road.

I follow them on the tube, I made a deal with the wife, she gave up a european vacation and I gave up live F1 races  until we have the house paid off. I'm only allowed to catch races here on the west coast. But in a couple year's we'll be done and I want to see every race on every circuit. (too bad australia is loosing their's after this year)

you should consider the drive down to MOntreal this year...we're gonna be there in full force...a lot of us from c7 are planning it...interested?
very interested, but it's a little too far from Calgary, Alberta, to montreal for me, especially in my Celica with the Tein HA's on in the summer, talk about a firm ride. Some member from the CSCC (Calgary Sports Car Club) make a trip out that way each year to race at Mosport, I want to go with them in a couple years and catch the F1 race at the same time. I need a full roll cage before I can race a mosport though and I don't have one yet. Planning to get that in a couple years.

The sad thing is most of the Enzos won't even get broken in. They'll never get a chance to become what they were designed to be. The rich will baby them too much, blah!
One of those 399 will be given to Michael Schumacher for sure. One may go to Rubens too.
