View Full Version : AMAZING Meet Opportunity - EMT Help Required

CONTROL ONE

OK, here it goes.

Mr. Stafford of Stafford Fabrications is willing to FLY down from California and personally install my turbo kit if there is a big enough interest in doing so.

This is an opportunity for everyone to come out and watch FIRST HAND a turbo being installed on a Celica by a professional.

SF currently produces turbo kits for BOTH the GT AND GT-S. He finished the GT-S kit just last week before SEMA and has had great success with it so far. To anyone interested in the kit, he will be offering them at EXTREMELY DISCOUNTED PRICES to members that show up and speak with him personally. He is an extremely friendly and knowledgable person and is willing to take the time to answer any question you may have in great detail.

What help is required?

This is where I would need the organizing help of the EMT crew. You guys have put together some amazing meets and I'm positive this could be a great mutually benefical opportunity for both Mr. Stafford and C7.

The biggest obsticle is WHERE to install the kit. I know Pete and Prafull are close to Alex, so I was thinking maybe Alex could lend us his shop on a Saturday or Sunday and in return we all pitch in and buy him dinner or something.

Another alternative is if someone has a relatively large, heated garage that we could work in (ahem, Morgan). His kits are literally direct bolt-ons so standard tools will suffice and be provided by me.

I am personally paying for the cost of Mr. Stafford's plane ticket to come down to Toronto so if anyone has hookups with airfare, help a brotha out

So what do you guys think? Any comments are welcome. Pete, Prafull, Piotrov, Brandon, please PM me with any additional comments you guys have.

Once again I think this is a great opportunity for everyone and I hope we can find a way to make it happen!

- Grant

I'm guessing that a garage would be your first choice, but if you're stuck in a major bind, no problem. How long would it take? I don't have tons of room, but you'd be welcome to it.

Another guy you might try asking could be Tony at IAC - I dunno if they lend out garage space, but if you manage to turn it into a meet, who knows - maybe he'd be happy to lend some space in their garage for free based upon the fact that a ton of Celica owners would be on hand to watch and hang at IAC's shop (a.k.a. sales opportunities).

that's a good point but time is money with IAC and there are a lot of insurance issues when 'lending out a shop' to someone. i'll try to give him a call though to see what he says but i'm sure he'd just say if they are not installing the kit then no.

as for time and space, not a lot is required. all Mike would need is ramps, jacks and jackstands which i would provide and a torque wrench.

he is confident that he will be able to do the entire install from start to finish in 8-9 hours!

OK, if you need my help/space, let me know. Just let me know details as you work things out, if you need me.

As for flights - I'd try Travelocity and Expedia for the cheapest fares. I'd also book that soon, as last-minute flights cost much more.

Andrew - I'm sure that wouldn't be a problem, it might take a lot of editing since it's 8-9 hours long :) He would probably love this as he could include it with his kits - that would be awesome!

Sean - good to hear man, hope to see you there!

Prafull and Brandon - ya I can't believe it either, but apparently he LIKES doing this! lol. think about it from his standpoint, this is his chance to break into the canadian market - he probably had no idea we even had cars up here, lol

Morgan - thanks man, much appreciated. i'm working out a deal now with mark who has a few places in mind with a larger space to accomodate an audience but if that falls through at all i'd definately take you up on that offer - remember he makes a GT-S kit too!

As for the price of these kits, you would be looking at roughly ~3000 USD for the COMPLETE kit for both GT and GT-S. For a detailed explanation of what comes with the kits, just visit here :

It sounds like quality control to me - one bad installation in Canada of his product would give 10x the bad word-of-mouth reputation than a good installation and a happy customer. Essentially you can't afford to mess up your first entry into a new market, as the negative publicity could be insurmountable in the future.

Our main man alex is however, dealing with a few family issues (mom's in the hospital) so he may not be the best one to pull outa on the weekends...he didn't look quite himself either...

Hey Grant. Get in contact with Chris at CP Racing in Tottenham where I work. These guys live for turbo conversions and I bet they'd love to be in part of this. Chris has a 1st gen Rx7 which he installed a 2nd gen turbo on. It's like 330hp. His business partner Pat also has a 1st gen RX7 which we'll be putting a turbo on this winter. Anyways,in our shop,we have 3 available hoists, room to jack a car up,and a fairly large shop. We can fit about 5 or 6 cars in it,and there's LOTS of parking space for everyone else who wants to come.

Contact chris at 905-938-5151 or go to www.cpracing.ca and talk to him. They are closed sundays, but saturdays are fooling around days or just finishing up work. If you do contact Chris, tell him Mike referred you.

This sounds like a wicked install too. If I can modify a header to fit my car,why can't I modify a turbo kit for my car as well?

OH!!!!! Grant...while your car is in there,we could use your car to make prototype front and rear strut bars for 7th gen Celicas now. We make standard strut bars,as well as tri bars which bolt onto the strut towers and the firewall for cars like S13 and 14 Silvias,S2000s,Neons,RX7s,E30s,Protoges,WRXs,Supra s and others. When you talk to Chris, ask about the strut bar idea. I'm sure he'd love it,seeing as he'd be able to expand the product line. We custom make these bars, you'll never find them from any other company. I make many of the peices for the bars themselves.

If you're going to have CP work on your car or use it in our facility, you can be assured it's in good hands and you've got nothing to worry about at all.

Come north up the 400 or Hwy 27,go west along Hwy 9 until you come to Tottenham Rd,make a right, and about 30-45 sec up the road, you will come to an 'S' bend, and the driveway is on the left. There is a big sign that says 'CP Racing.' Can't miss it unless you're doing 120.

Is this place anywhere near Woodington Lake Golf Course? If so, coming from Mississauga, people might want to follow:

427 North to Highway 7
Highway 7 West to Highway 50
Highway 50 North to Highway 9
Highway 9 East to Tottenham Road

Here's a link to a general map, if I'm thinking of the right place:

I don't know about you guys.

I can get a day or two with BM Audio shop.

Can fit 3-4 cars in their shop, huge parking space (can accomendate probably over 50 cars)

There is a upstair observeration deck for those that don't just want to crowd around the car can look from above.

Tools? Not many, all the tools they need for audio system/security system installing.

But I dont think they have a hoist or anything to lift engines, etc.

But the shop is close, as CONTROLONE mentioned he wanted a shop thats close. (Markham Rd. / 401)

To me, it doesn't matter where, it should still be an experience.

Jae,it sounds like CP is much more equipped tools wise. After all,we are a speed shop, but that's great to hear that we've got a back up plan now. Yes Morgan, you can use Hwy 50 to get there, you just have to travel east through Alliston. Basically,Hwy 9 gets you there, simple as that.

Cool than CP it is.

Just give us a heads up before you do it! Because I want to be there to check it out :)

And see Stafford in action :)

This is going to be pretty cool. Any of you other guys interested in custom strut bars or exhaust systems at all? We can make those for you on site.

Heh heh,Grant walks away with a turbo, exhaust system, and free strut bars.

Umm Sean,we can make you a dual exhaust,we just need to design it and measure it up and all that crap. But yes,it can be done. Dunno how much it'll be though. You'll have to inquire.

stafford's shop got robbed over the holidays while he was away, they hit him pretty hard

is CP Racing still willing to help out? that would be amazing if they could. i don't think stafford would have a problem doing it there anymore given our tight scheduling conflicts
