Since there is a lot of people that compete in events. i was wondering if anyone uses it? Heard its really effective on 4 wheel and Front wheel drive cars.
I tried it a couple of times but i dont think i did it right.
It started bringing my ass end out sort of like in rally but there is also
another way which is very affective for late braking.
Anyone?
also anyone use heel over toe?

heel toe is a little different .. when you have a stick the left foot is always for the clutch.

What you do is when you hit a turn at a high speed you wait until the last possible second to brake. Then what you do is hit the clutch with the left foot, Then with your right foot you go on the brake and gas .. the reason for this is to keep the RPM's up .. when you're done braking you slide your foot off the brake fully onto the gas and let out the clutch .. VROOM VROOM

I have a slush box so I do left foot braking. You hold the brake and let the car go up to about 2,000rpm and then let off the brake. Its the way you "launch" an auto.

I find this link to be an excellent explaination of heel and toe downshifting. http://www.edmunds.com/ownership/howto/articles/45792/article.html

I heel and toe almost everywhere, unless I"m going really slow. It's fun and smooth.

Left braking, isn't gonna give a driver like me an edge so I don't bother. It does have it's merits but basically only in racing conditions. I've screwed around with it and realized I'm not that co-ordinated for left foot breaking with a clutch and stick to play with at the same time. :?

I heal toe everywhere and find it great for the track. I started doing it around town to get it down for the track and now find myself doing on every stick i drive (if the pedals are close enough). If you do it right it's really smooth. On my gt-s I found the brake pedal too far away for a good quick heal toe (especially on the track) so I bought some aftermarket pedals to lessen the gap and it really helped. I just picked myself up a new mill (man is it nice) on the weekend so I'm going to mill myself up some custom race pedals (only clutch and brake) to fit really well and span the gap.

I find the Celica to have too close of a gear box (atleast the 6 speed) and not enough torque to really use left foot braking. But then again maybe I'm doing it wrong or my timing is wrong. I do however trail brake and that brings the back end around nicely but it's mostly effective on mid to high speed corners.

Yea i started using Heel over toe on my old honda.
It became secound nature but when i got the Celica it
became more difficut. I find my heel hits the side of the
pedal box and i cant press the gas down far enough.
Im still working on it. :D
