yeah also keep in mind guys this is done on a flat parking lot with pilons.

You can't really damage your car

Is it just autox training they provide or general road skills as well?

well AutoX is all about Car control. Its geared towards AUtoX though to answer your question

i'm mostly concerned with the proper way to corner as i feel that's my weakest skill as a driver

Piotrov
02-10-2004, 08:08 PM
I think it focuses on cornering braking and acceleration..

Learning your car is the best road skills you can get IMO..

I only went out to ONE last year, but improved my time by over 10 seconds from my first run to my last run.. (They call me Mr. Screechy).

You don't realy know what you/your car can do untill you have the chance to push both.

and there's NO chance i can run my car into something?

if so, count me in

Helmets and Celica's kinda suck, but they also prevent you from bouncing your noggin off the a-pillars.

The first time I went out I was like ‘Helmets are dumb’.

Then I rode silly seat.. I had an entirely new appreciation by the time the run was finished..

There are only pilons that you can hit. From what i saw at my first Auto X is that once you hit a pilon it just folds and goes under the car.

well you have to be reasonable .. there is light posts and such in the parking lot. they do it at the brampton sports center which has a curbs around the lot.

But they try and design the course to make sure you are driving away from those things. However its not IMPOSSIBLE to hit something depending on how crazy you drive

I screwed one run up so badly, that I ran over 5 pylons in a row!!! Gotta love understeer.......

I can't drive for shit, yeah I'm chinese ....
so it's only 40 bucks? and you won't really hurt the car's suspension tires, etc...?

ok, count me in.

Ron your bring up a good point.... the only thing you may wear down a bit is the edges on your tires from the skidpad testing. But you can reduce the wear by inflating them to 40psi the day of. I'll probably be on hand to help y'all out anyways. This doesn't effect your treadline depth though, just a bit of rounding of the corners.
As for the rest of your cars components, it's probably easier on your supsension than the city streets, cause we'll be running on smooth pavement

I was thinking that because this event is just a 'school' that classifications will be thrown out the window. I'm wondering if it wouldn't matter if someone brought a Lada or a Lamborghini. :?:

EDIT: I just checked the solo2 site and they processed 37 applications. Not 44 that you mentioned. Probably a good thing.

really? hmm.. ok maybe i missread the number.. LOL or they just decided to take me off the list

That's right, there's no classification at all. It's a school to improve your driving skill, not a competition. So don't worry about anything and just have fun :D
