Just reviving this topic, there is a few pages of old posts but they are still all relevant and if you would like to share or add something then go ahead. I am pushing for May 19th (Wednesday Evening) to be our first Peterborough Meet Night. Read below for more details and read the end to keep updated. Word! Nerds say WORD PERFECT?

Just wondering who would be interested in a meet night.

Simonizing car wash is now open on Chemong at Canadian Tire.

Here is the pricing:

Ultimate Plus $7.99
Regular $6.99
Basic $5.99

add $2.00 to each if you are not geting gas.

I was speaking to the older guy there running the station and said they would welcome a meet night. Meaning once a week in the summer that we could use their parking lot to have people with cool cars meet and get together. He aslo added that the parts guy in the automotive center would be interested as well. Apparently he drives a Hyundai thats red and says redneck accross the back lol. Oh well, I am sending this message out to all the Peterborough folks in case they are interested in having a meet night?

By the way I have a 2002 civic lx so you have to be open minded wink.

Let me know if you are interested and we will get the ball rolling, I noticed that the Canadian Tire on Chemong has no night time lighting in their parking lot. Maybe it's temporary because it is a new store.

It would be nice to see anyone show up that has pride in their car no matter what it is.

I don't know about you but it seems when ever I pull up beside a car in Peterborough and it's nice. You look over and the person won'y even aknowledge you. Dead straight stare as if to say " I AM THE BEST AND THE PASSENGER SEATS NOT EMPTY, MY EGO IS SITTING IN IT".

Anyway it would be nice to see peeps enjoy and share what they are doing to their cars. Maybe put a new spin on the attitude around this place.

Okay so I was over to check out the wash, not bad. I chose the ultra wash and it cost me $10.49 with tax and no gas.

I must have stirred up a buzz or something cause there were 4 people working the gas station and all of them were excited to see me. They were telling me about this guy that was in there last night and he was talking about having a meet night each week at their Canadian Tire.

I chuckled and said nice to meet you... that was me last night! Lol.

So Mark the idea of holding it on Wednesdays would sound good to me. Ties the week together somehow.

The idea of Evinrude Center is iffy because my friend runs the place (works there) and I know for a fact that being a government building and property that they may complain and or have ongoing problems with that. Also I am not sure what nights they have there summer dances and crap but there is a mess load of teenage dirtbags baby lol.

Canadian Tire desperately needs to clean the sand out of their parking lot and I am sure they will soon. It seems like a decent place.

Positives:
- Sorta secluded so those with stereaireeeo's may be able to get their freak on with few complaints.
- The parking lot is on a small angle so if people park with the ass end of their non lowered car on the high part they will look lowered in the front. lol
- For those who want to draw some attention, there are four lanes of traffic passing by constantly.
- You can wash your car and roll out right on the landing strip.
- The asian chick in the gas bar said " ooohh Hot Cars! Hot Guys!"
- McD's, Arbys and some other heart clogging joints are right thur.
I LIKE IT WHEN YOU CLOG IT RIGHT THUR... RIGHT THUR.

I think it would be perfect. The lot is well lit (although it doesn't look like it should be), and the exposure is perfect.. Plus McD's, Arbys, and even a TIMMY'S accross the road?! Can't possibly go wrong!!! :thumbup:

I tired the Carwash too. Not bad!!! :shock: I'm still surprised they cheaped out though and didn't put in the Lazerwash system! (actualy why am I surprised? Everything in Peterborough is done half-assed :giggle: ).

.. for those of you that don't know what I'm talking about: Laserwash doesn't use rails or ridges making it PERFECT for lowered cars.. They have one at the CT on Mavis (by our beloved KK.)....

But yeah. Not bad!! I'm in!!! If the weather doesn't suck, do you want to do the first one next week?

Hey guys, just keeping you up to speed. I have sent a faxed letter to the Chemong Canadian Tire stores General Manager. He has a cool name... Jeff Rideout.

I am awaiting his response and should know after Monday probably. That is when he will next be in and get the letter.

I am back from work and as promissed here is the letter that I have sent off to Jeff Rideout (General Manager) of CT.

Read it and if you guys want to add anything then post it here and I will be more then happy to incorporate it with my pitch to Jeff when I hear from him. Today at work I met a fellow who owns Karbelt out of Ajax. They wholesale parts to places like The Go Shop here in Peterborough. He liked the idea of us setting up a meet. I also dropped by The Go Shop in person and bumped into the owner there. He said he was all for this sorta thing... uh duh? I am sure he is lol :) Nice guy though and if anyone is looking I believe he can get his hands on a set of Tenza tires and Rims which are extremely unique. He said about $1600.00 and he thinks its a steal.

Okay enough about that... here is the letter and I am off now to the cottage and won't be home until late tomorrow night. Taking nephew to that Wrestlemania 20 at Galaxy live on Pay-per-view.

We will get this thread back to what it is supposed to be about. I will update you guys tomorrow, still haven't heard anything. A friend of mine organizes events and he was involved with Peterborough cruise nights somehow. He told me today that he had to have insurance for gatherings. He said it was anywhere between 300 to 800 dollars a year and that the insurance company asks a crap load of questions. Although it should be easy and he would refer me to someone who provide such insurance.

I said why? and he said in case someone is walking and breaks a leg you will need it. I wonder if you stay in your car and don't get out if you can get around it. lol

Anyhoo if thats the case and Jeff Rideout from CT asks me about it if he evers calls than I will look further into it. Would a better idea be to just keep the meet random and just post the location the night before? Still keep it wednesdays though?

I will keep at it though and be persistant on getting something going.

Syn man I am gonna kiss a little ass here but oh well. You London peeps know how to do it right when it comes to car meets and automotive events. Last year I went to 16 events or meets and most where out that way.

St. Thomas, Grand Bend, Niagra... every meet I went to last year I was sure to meet plenty of cool people from London or the surrounding area. Almost makes me think twice about where I live lol.

Now my friends told me years ago that it took about an hour to get down to the bottom where it circles back up. I don't think I would have the patience for that but I would park at the top and walk down. I was there in the off season but the bars were still packed. Grand Bend Motorplex kicked ass! When the jet car took off at the line my ten year old nephew fell backwards right out of his seat. lol

In the summer it DOES take a while to get down to the beach. There's only 1 road down to the primary beach area... People can park on that street, and since all of the vendors are there as well it becomes a mob of (stupid) people. It's also the favorite road modded cars cruise up and down. It's funny watching them, up...down...up...down... They just drive and don't actually go anywhere. So combine those two elements, and you get a long drive down to the beach

Now the meet I'd like to have, would be a single cruise down to the beach, park (day pass = $5) hang there for a few hours, then cruise out. None of the up and down crap, it only pisses people off.

Then we can cruise to the motorplex, and do some runs :giggle:

The picture was taken in Niagra at some park. I have to find the name of it for you. it is huge! 20 - 30 times bigger then what you see.

Took ten minutes to walk to the washrrom but we could have found a closer one.

Sounds good man, there is no restrictions to what type of cars can come or how done up. I would just like to see people getting to know each other and share some stories. Then later on we can all roll out and cruise if we want.

I have come to admire a few people on this site that contribute so much to us all having fun and even though I have never organized anything like this. Hopefully everyone will be patient with me and play along or I'll just beat up some of you to get my point across lol.

I see this as being a good thing that everyone can enjoy as long as we all behave sorta.
