Can you guys believe these numbers? Looks awfully slow to me. Maybe this Daniel Heraud is a heavy, fat, dude slowing the car down.....

One interesting thing to note is the difference in roadholding - GT @ 0.85g versus the GT-S at 0.87g. I wonder if somehow the slightly different engine and drivetrain affects this. Perhaps the wheels and braking system differences, too.
Also note the 2 feet difference in braking distance from 60-to-0 - I'm surprised to see the GT-S is 2 feet longer - I would've thought the ABS and 4-wheel discs would make it better. Maybe weight differences are a factor.

Ya, the fat f*** doesn't drive it properly. Short shifts to get the best fuel mileage in the 0-60tests!!

Agreed, and the GT stock should be able to pull off at least a 16.5s 1/4 mile, or even get as low as 16.3s with intake and exhaust. 0-60mph GT shouldn't be 9.5s, more like 9.2s if shifted well.

:roll:
uhhhh, GT is capable of mid 15s stock, not 16s.... at his first time at the track, scotty01 pulled a 15.5 completely stock, and he's not even that good of a driver, lol
check the 1/4 mile time sheets on nc.o, modded GT's are hitting low 15s

Yeah, that's true - I bet your GT would easily get to a 16.0 flat for the 1/4 and 0-60mph probably around the 9.0 flat too - you've got the intake and exhaust on there.

i don't get it morgan...if that was your sense of humor, it's not on today :wink:
I'm not suprised by the numbers;
#1 - he's not use to the car and the proper shift ponts, how hard to brake, how the car handles and so on.
#2 - A big factor in these tests is that a lot of them are done with the mold release still on the stock tires. First mod release will not grip well and will effect braking, handeling, 0-60, and 1/4 times. Second the stock tires were crap and if you put any other tire on the car you'll get much better performance. The differences between the GT and GT-S stats will probably be due to the different wear on the tires, the tire and mag size differences, and when the tests were performed.
Numbers like these are why some of the more serious magazines say that the car had X km and the tires were or weren't scrubed when the test was performed. Mazada now gives there cars with scrubbed stock tires to the magazines to test so that the mold release doesn't play such a big factor and the consumers get more accurate numbers of how the car will really perform once it's broken in.
I do not agree with the 0-60 times on the GT. Should be in the mid to high 7's. A 5 speed Echo is in the high 9's.
