I'm flying down to Halifax for the Tall Ships weekend :P

Still confirming if I'll be downtown or at a B&B (read: girlfriend wants to stay at B&B :giggle:)

But in any case... let's have little meet & get-2-gether ... I know Mel & Glenn imma see for sure...hopefully Ervin and few others can come out for some fun :smile:

Tall Ships Return to Halifax 2004

Nova Scotians have front-row seats to the world's finest gathering of tall ships when Halifax plays host to Tall Ships Challenge 2004 from July 29 to August 2, 2004.

Up to 40 tall ships will be at the heart of the festivities on the Halifax waterfront, including a number of Class A ships - show-stoppers that can be up to 360 feet in length.

The tall ships' visit takes place during the World Acadian Congress and is specially themed "A Salute to l'Acadie". The five-day event will highlight Nova Scotia's Acadian culture and heritage, and will include Natal Day, Halifax-Dartmouth's annual birthday celebration.

The Grou Tyme Acadian Festival will also take place on the same weekend, featuring the Grou Tyme Village with world-class entertainers from Atlantic Canada, Louisiana, France and Quebec.

Tall Ships Challenge 2004 - A Salute to l'Acadie will be one of the most spectacular festivals of the year.

OK...so we compromised ... we're at a B&B .. and we got a private suite house apart from the main house... don't you guys find it wierd staying at a Bed & Breakfast..it's creepy...

In any case... we're gonna take a drive upto lunenberg & Peggy's Cove ...spend some time down at the Tall Ships festival..and take in many of the fine local restaurants & bars ...

We're staying in a neighborhood like 9 min from downtown..called the Northwest Arm--a chic neighborhood just outside Halifax... it's going to be zoo house there that weekend ..can't wait 8)

LUke...you wouldn't happen to know if the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron is affilliated with the Royal Canadian Yacht Club here in Toronto? .... my gf and I are staying right close by in the North Arm of Halifax, and that would be a great place to have a meet (at the clubhouse) ...

I'm going to be asking our membership director here, and if they're linked, that would be a cool place to start the meet... 8)

If it helps at all ..it's like 376 Purcell's Rd, oceanview & balmoral are very close by if that helps at all...looks like it's about 3km away from the downtown core (like a 2 min drive or something)

I'll be there this summer as well.......I've been driving down to Halifax and Cape Breton for tha past 5 yrs, every summer.
I'll be there either June or July.

actually you can still stay at the casino hotel but you must get a 4 night package for only $1244. I might just stay the night friday and leave sat night

There are alot of of other motels and B&Bs in the area. Not right on the water front but it is a place to stay.

I've slept in my celi a number of times. A couple of pillows and the rear seats folded down makes a surprisingly comfortable last-resort option. :smile:

as for the others that are still lookign for rooms I highly recommend you book through Expedia.ca, or travelocity.ca...still availalbility, and it's cheap...it's just not downtown...but still 8)

Cheapest I saw was like $85 CAD ..per night... but you better move on this...they're going fast :thumbup:
