Interesting article on heel and toe downshifting, trail breaking, drivers position, etc. 8)

Nice link Brent. There's an interesting not there about maximun acceleration is achieved at torque peak, and from what I read, there's no point going past that 4200 rpm in a gt 6800 in a gts.

This doesn't make sence to me. I can promise you that if I shift at 4200 I loose!!!!

Can anyone elaborate?

Right, I think the article was keeping in mind of larger displacement 6s and 8s. Typically they have a big fat torque curve and a pk HP at say 6000rpm and the redline is 7000rpm. What they are saying is there is no point reving all the way to redline as you are actually loosing power from 6k on.

With our high strung I4s they were desined to be revved to the redline to get max performance out of them. I know I wouldn't be going anywhere shifting at 6800rpms!

Best thing to do is to look at dyno graphs for your car and others. Determine the shift points and calculate the area under the curve that gives you the must power :D
In the GTS that means revving until infinity and beyond(especially in the first 2 gears)

Lets not forget one of the reasons we shift at rev limiter is to make sure we land in lift or as close to it as possible.
