Toyota's exotic sports car to be unveiled in Jan

NEW YORK — Toyota Motor Corp said Monday it will unveil the Lexus LF-A exotic sports car concept vehicle at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on Jan 9.

The LF-A is "designed to explore the outer limits of sports car performance, while showcasing a bold new direction in styling for the Lexus brand," Toyota said. The 2005 Lexus GX 470 luxury utility vehicle featuring a more powerful V-8 engine and an advanced kinetic dynamic suspension system will also make its debut at the auto show. (Kyodo News)

They are just looking to see the reaction of the public to see if the styling is good. If the public's reaction is really good, they may produce it!

As for the Supra, it's comming back in a few years (2-3 years) as a contender of the 350Z.

I've heard also that Toyota is planing a supercar for when they are gona win the F1 champinship.

Just curious.. how come toyota keeps splitting their cars into different name categories?? Toyota, Lexus and now the Sicon.... wouldent it be better to just stick to the names that people already know and trust?

It's because they want to give personal service and type of cars to completly different kind of customers!

Toyota is for basicly everyone.
Lexus for the custumor that want's more luxury in a vehicule.
Scion for the young ones that are looking to mod their ride.

If you would go to all these dealers, you would experience completly different service from one to the others!

Well that and the fact that Lexus, Infiniti, Acura dont exist in Japan, the marques are for North America. People here needed a reason to justify spending $100 000 on a Toyota, so they call'd it a Lexus...

Nasty... Perhaps it looks better in real life, but that sucker looks like Free Willy on my screen! Why are they building new supercars? Why not just ordniary sports cars that everyone can afford? Makes the world a better place.

Not sure about the Lexus in Japan thing, but they have all the models there already, just different names... SC 430 is the Toyota Soarer, IS 300 is the Toyota Altezza, etc...

Maybe Charles or Chris would know, they seem 2 have the inside edge :wink:

actually first time outside of North America
