Do you think we should have car girls at shows ??

shows for sure, especially if we wish to be remembered.
meets, it doesn't matter. frankly i don't think they would want to come out for meets, and we shouldn't force them. (but for shows, its a must)

agreed. It would be nice for both. I wonder if they charge a lot.

if we do the interview process and select a handful, they shouldn't charge anything. we are giving them the opportunity to be seen by hundreds and also potential agencies when we attend shows.
i retract my vote for "both" and put it for just "shows"

I dunno .. that would be ideal however they must want something out of it. I noticed the one hot girl that waykewl took a pic with was selling signed autographs and posters and such?? anywayz maybe they would work for the opportunity to be seen but I don't think model agencies are scoping out for girls there ??

well i think we should do this interview process regardless.
from it, we can ask a question such as what they want to get out of this if they are selected. basically, are you girls expecting to be paid? or no payment and have a chance to be seen. some are desperate to even have this chance, so it may swing our way.

I don't know. I may sound like a wierdo here but I don't think people should use women to sell cars.
I think the cars should sell themselves.
Listen, I'm all for seeing scantly clad women drapped over things, but people wonder why cars are "guy things" and this is exactly why.
Would you go hang out in a booth if it was full of chip-and-dale dudes? I wouldn't. So I'd imagine, women don't really want to hang around in booths full of stripper chicks.
The result. We push women out of the sport->we see less women..
I don't know about you guys.... but I like seeing more women, so we should get rid of them in car shows...
Addition by subtraction...
wow..

mmm yes and no .. the girls don't literately sit on the car all day. They do tend to walk around and do whatever girl things they want lol.. they just usually are around for Glamour shots of the car and they always seem to be around when the car is being judged.

Glues'' got a good point.. the women that choose to participate in the shows this way, do so however, on their own accord.
If other women choose to perceive that as a negative thing, there isn't much we can do. My girlfriend for example doesn't take offense, nor would be hesitant to join us all with our hottie chicks onsite... that's her way of seeing things... she's very open minded, and is an idependent, free-thinking individual. She beleives we are all resonsible for our own actions, thoughts, and feelings, as do I.
We aren't the architechts of society, nor should we pretend to be. People see things the way they want to. That's my view of things...there will always 2 sides to every proposition.
"Glamour" ins't what it was 10, 20, 30 or 40 years ago...it's definition is changing as a direct result of societies interpretation of it's meaning and forever will continue to do so.
In keeping with the independent, free thinking society that we are I think this is something that we should respect each other on, but not impose our judgements on others. The option should be left open for all to consider, evaluate, and then participate.

Hey Glue-muncher's on! Fan-didilly tastic..
Ok here's a fact..
grrrls... have..... cars.............. too..
In fact girls typicaly are more anal about their cars then guys are.
I think these performance companies are stupid.. They are ignoring/pissing-off at least 50% of the potential market place..
Not to mention our OWN particular car demographic.. The number of Celica owners I've seen driving around is at least 2/1 in favour of the women (and most of them drive GTS's :P )
So I say this.. There is nothing wrong with a little car girl action.. But if you want to do somthing totaly differnt.. Perhaps a little beef-cake to go with the cheeze-cake..
(no I'm not ghay.. It just so happens the SO is as much/more of a car freak then I am.. Equal opprounity!! :) )

woke up and just realized...women make the majority of car buying decisions in a 2 person household...most men don't act independently when making a car purchase (if there's a women that has something to say about it)...
this is bringing about an interesting point...glue raised it...sub's elaborated...and I'm starting to think this could be a very new and exciting opportunity...
If we did ALSO cater to the women out there in performance land, we would likely grow as a board 100 times faster than anything out there...with a store generate more traffic, and as a board have more posts than others (limited of course by a generally male dominated cyber world however)..but still there is an opportunity here...some balance might be not only politically correct, but also effective..hmmm...
thoughts?

well I think that it is a male dominated thing. I also agree about what you said before where most girls who are into cars don't really care that there are car girls. We have to keep in mind car models aren't exactly stripping and rubbing their uhh area onto the hood or something (it isn't a strip joint and I want to keep the car wax clean lol ), To be honest most of the car guys already look pretty good typically so if a girl wants to see a good looking guy she just has to walk up to the owner of the car.
Now keep in mind I am totaly for having more women on this board, but it would seem if girls want to see guys they don't have to go very far (specially in darknights when its 45 outside and everyone is in tank tops to try and keep cool). Where as guys to see a girl at the show is an event as so few women go.

Yeah...good point...the relative numbers are skewed in favour of the women from the start...
I like how this thought is developing...
both...more ho's meen more thrills...fun & games :D
I can't imagine it'd be all that fun having paid women around. That whole phoney aura.... doesnt work for me. You can spot those types at car shows easily.
Get a few good looking female friends with good attitudes, and havea good time. Unless of course you want sexually deprived men oogling the girls at your booth, instead of the cars.
But to answer the question, in a broad sense (no pun intended) - Women are always a good thing at any 'event'.

i don't think we need to accept models who wish to be paid. they are getting the opportunity to be seen by scouts and have a good time. i'm sure we can find good looking ones who don't want pay.

Are we talking about a "C7 performance" promo?
Interesting.. The Import set is REALY male dominated. Hormones galore. Import Fest was my first real taste of it. Every other car show I've been to has been a real 'interest' based affair. Everyone scoping out everyone elses rides, swapping tips, etc..
That event at the skydome seemed in many ways a show of excessive coin... Chest-beating 101.
I liked the community thing I see at other car events (ie street rods). Just people coming together and matching interests and ideas..
The question is how do you sell THAT..

I think what you're asking to sell is an atmosphere. Which is what I felt darknights was ALL about .. you went there and for 90% of the cars the owner was sitting in a chair 10 feet away. You just walk right up to him/her and say hey whats up thats a nice car what you do to it and you strike up a conversation from there. Its being accessable and welcoming questions.
Second part is you have to be friendly  but seriously I had a blast I talked to lots of the owners of the cars. They were really nice people. I was talking to a guy with a Turbo'd MR2 and not only was it turbo'd he had nitrous on it as well ~Droool~ it was such a nice car.
Basically I think what you're asking for is how do we sell ourself, and its something that you can't do. You just have to welcome people and they will find out for themself.
Just my 2 cents.
