taken from our friends over at ecelica.
it appears many u.s. owners have received their letter already...
it states:
"In certain late 2002 through early 2003 Model Year Celica vehicles, the fuel tank check valve, located in the fuel tank inlet pipe, may become separated from the inlet pipe and fall into the fuel tank. If the check valve falls into the tank, fuel may spill from the fuel inlet pipe wht the fuel pump automatically shuts off during fueling. In the worst case, this may result in a fire in the presence of an ignition source."

No shit!!
Shit happens.. At least Toyota takes responsibility for somthing as small as a little disky-doo-dad in your fuel-tank that MAY fall in, and cause you to accedentaly spill gas..
ooooooooooo..
Rather then Ferd who waited untill HOW many people died before they recalled the Explorers, 'cause they cheaped out on the tires that they used..
Blah de-blah blah.. :D
I wouldn't agree with that, I think they wouldn't care accept for, it's most likely to spill out and catch fire during refilling, which will cause a fire at a gas station, which the gas station (esso, shell, 76, chevron, texaco, etc. etc.) would sue the shit out of toyota (and have the money to do it right) as would anyone involved. As well the goverment would crack down on them and all their vehicles and charge them the fee's to do it. It's just that ford wasn't looking at big oil companies sueing them so they weren't near as concerned.

Ford had to pay out 100's of millions in the end plus they had their reputation tarnished in front of a senate committee. All because they decided against increasing the width by 4". Forgot to mention the shit soft suspension and the comical tyres developed for the Explorer. Took over a decade I belive before they did something about it.

This is the second recall on the 2002's..
I already had a recall on mine.. I'll have to dig it up.. OOOH yeah.. They used an oil-based lubracant on the Cruize control and it was threatening to break..
Worst case senerio in that case was a loss of control as the cruze control wouldn't shut off..

2002 Celicas:
Many owners will find their paint totally sucks and there is no clear coat on the car. Resulting in chips and scratches. Under certian worst case scenarios, bugs may cause paint chips.
Unfortunately, it costs WAY too much money to repaint cars, so we aint gonna do jack about it.
DEAL!

Ummm you forgot the point where they tell you that your car is made of Galvanized steel, and therefore won't rust, so they can't possibly violate there Perforation warenty..
It just looks like ass. :D

I don't care what it's made of. If it's not protected, it's going to rust. It's just a matter of time. It may be galvanized, but it's not stainless steel.
I've seen galvanized nails rust almost as quickly as regular nails...
Throw roads salt and emmisions into the picture, and whapahhhh

I didnt know they had recalled them until i went into my dealer saturday ready for a fight.
I have had the fuel prob for a few months now and they told me i was crazy. Then i found the US had recalled the 02's and so did toyota japan on the j series for the exact prob!
I went in w/ a printout of the US recall to give them shit and they said they were just recalled here. HAHAHHAHAHAHAH

lol nice
also with certain "problems" dealers won't take printouts of letters others have gotten because sometimes if say toyota messes something up they know it happened on cars says 200-to-900 so only those cars will get this replacement part
However it is crazy sometimes how car companies deny stuff
By the way welcome to the site man

To minimize paint chipping and scratching, avoid exposure to air molecules. Driving the Celica in a vacuum is highly recommended. The above has been proven to prolong the life of the paint.
