I think some of you received a recall letter from Toyota on the 2002 Panasonic Celica. The reason for the recall was because there was no hook on the driver side to hold the carpet it place. After a while, the carpet can shift upwards and this may cause the gas pedal to get stuck under the driver side carpet.

Anyways, I recieved the letter in mid Feb 2003 but I never bothered to get this done as I figured it wasn't that important. I figured I can wait until an oil change and have it done at the same time. After today, I think I will go and get this done this Saturday.

I am heading to work this morning and I am about to make a right right hand turn. I let go of the gas and apply the brakes. Instead of slowing down, the car revs and speeds up faster and faster. I'm like, "WTFFFFFFFFF"! I missed my turn and and was not able to gain control of my car for about another 10 seconds. Let me tell you, it was the worst feeling I had in a long long time. I was so lucky there were no cars or pedistrians around me or in front of me.

Moral of the story, take the recalls seriously and get it done asap before an accident occurs.

hehe yeah .. keep in mind the only time Companies typically issue a recall is when they can get sued from a faulty product and has been proven to be enough of a probability that the law suits will most likely out weigh the cost of doing the recall

It sucks but they wouldent do it cuz i dident have my stock mats that came with the Panasonic :D

Tell me about it. After I regained control, I pulled into a parking lot so I could breath again before heading back.

My car is not Panasonic Celi, but it didn't come with that hook at all for driver or passenger you mean I should have one.
