I think some of you received a recall letter from Toyota on the 2002 Panasonic Celica. The reason for the recall was because there was no hook on the driver side to hold the carpet it place. After a while, the carpet can shift upwards and this may cause the gas pedal to get stuck under the driver side carpet.
Anyways, I recieved the letter in mid Feb 2003 but I never bothered to get this done as I figured it wasn't that important. I figured I can wait until an oil change and have it done at the same time. After today, I think I will go and get this done this Saturday.
I am heading to work this morning and I am about to make a right right hand turn. I let go of the gas and apply the brakes. Instead of slowing down, the car revs and speeds up faster and faster. I'm like, "WTFFFFFFFFF"! I missed my turn and and was not able to gain control of my car for about another 10 seconds. Let me tell you, it was the worst feeling I had in a long long time. I was so lucky there were no cars or pedistrians around me or in front of me.
Moral of the story, take the recalls seriously and get it done asap before an accident occurs.
